So, you're performatively simping over the death of someone who you admit you've heard "30 minutes of sound bites" from over the course of your entire life? You people seriously suffer from terminal partisan hackery. Zero critical thinking ability whatsoever.

Hmmm... you may want to re read the comment before you go on your next attack. His comment says if YOU didn’t listen, you wouldn’t understand. I find your opinion fascinating, [enter text](You people seriously suffer from terminal partisan hackery. Zero critical thinking ability whatsoever.) Critical thinking indeed!

I refused to go anywhere near SM today for this reason alone. I can’t imagine so much internal rot. It honestly makes me sad for humanity.

He used to read out a list of names of gay people who died of aids and then play celebration music at the end.

Educate yourself you ignorant fucking individual. They hated him because he was a giant piece of fucking shit.

All I know he is a conservative. And I only know him from the family guy episode so I'll guess he's somewhat a christian person as well :)

The big thing that people have to remember, in this internet era, is that aside from National Review the magazine, the Rush Limbaugh show going coast-to-coast in the 1980s was the ONLY guy out there relentlessly mocking liberals and expressing classical conservative ideas. He saved AM radio single-handedly, and converted millions to conservativism through his show. He was a rain that watered countless flowers to grow.

No, unlike people on this board he was not a fascist, or an an-cap, or whatever projections that wanted him to be. He was tepid on the Republican party, trying to make them stand up and not compromise, but bullish on conservative principles.

Pretty mainstream Republican. He was what Sean Hannity was groomed to replace, but doesn’t have the talent or temperament to. He tended to support the GOP nominee and mock the challengers. Alan Keyes’s supporters were “Keyesters,” which is kind of funny.

He called conspiracy theorists KOOKs (Keepers of Odd Knowledge).

He also was a bit slow on the uptake about the severity of this election fraud.

I don't think he was as mainstream as many think, and frankly, he got less mainstream as the years went on, particularly after he saw how the Tea Party groups got dicked over by the establishment.

Joe Rogan has as many listeners. Is he mainstream?

Why this sudden desire for such edgelord street cred, as if you're not a REAL unless you're spouting off red-pilled niche lingo? Rush was red-pilling people before we ever came up with the term.

I don't think you understand how many people are not actually liberals and hold traditional values. The media and the liberals want you to think that the values of people on this board are rare. They actually are not.

Rush Limbaugh only supported Republicans as an alternative to democrats. We have a two party state because we have winner take all elections. This is called Duverger's Law that you always default, even in parliamentary systems, into two major coalitions or parties. If you don't support liberals, you have no choice but to support the opposition party.

Moreover, to reform the party you do support, you have to use primaries to shift the party one way or the other, which is why he called them cowards all the time for not standing up for conservative principles and supported the Tea Party.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ -2 ▼
– Eisenhorn -2 points 4 years ago +1 / -3

And yet he supported the Republicans and they supported him.

Doesn't get more mainstream than that.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– Mad_King_Kalak 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

He supported some republicans, and some he didn't. If you'd have ever listened to him, you'd have known that. In 40+ years, that's a lot of politicians coming and going, some good, and some bad. Frankly, he criticized republicans more than he praised them, mostly for being cowardly. They would always try to get on his good side, but he kept himself deliberately segregated away from their machinations. Again, if you were a listener, you'd know that.

Two party system, dude occasionally supported Republicans, mostly because democrats were so bad. I bet you've voted for Republicans, are you mainstream?

And why does "mainstream" or not even matter? Does edgelord status have some cache when he red-pilled millions?

I've had the misfortune of hearing Rush Limbaugh talk out of his ass for decades. He's the definition of an establishment propagandist. He gets paid to lie. Predictably, you're still stuck on the "liberal bad conservative good" false paradigm that you actually think this bloated sack of shit had integrity. You're a partisan hack. But don't feel bad, that's the majority of people here.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 5 ▼
– Mad_King_Kalak 5 points 4 years ago +7 / -2

Nope, sorry. I know you're lying about listening to Rush, because of what you're saying about him now. The closest he has ever come to being a conformist is not for being for 3rd parties in the pre-Trump era, and complaining about kooky Free Republic folks for a spell. But oh, he was not a propagandist just because he was careful of what he said. I suspect he was to subtle for you.

Your dime store psych quick read is wrong as can be.

Again, you're in a glass house throwing stones. But don't feel bad, you're like the majority of liberals even though you think you're not.

▲ -9 ▼
– Serenade -9 points 4 years ago +1 / -10

Oh, is that the closest he came to being a conformist? You're cute.

How about whole-heartedly supporting the invasion of Iraq and then refusing to believe it when no "weapons of mass destruction" were ever discovered?

How about never criticizing Israel in the slightest?

How about relentlessly pushing lies and race-baiting to play to the rich and powerful Christian Right?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 6 ▼
– Mad_King_Kalak 6 points 4 years ago +6 / -0

You're funny, cherry picking things from a 43 year radio career.

Everyone, democrats included, supported the invasion of Iraq. But hey, never mind that it took almost a year for the use of force authorization, giving Sadam time to move them out of the country or destroy them. But that's just a crazy conspiracy theory. And here you are, on a conspiracy theory board. Funny you didn't think of that.

So, not criticizing Israel is some sort of marker of what, exactly? Not being sig heil enough for your projections of what he should be, rather than what he was, which was a classical Burkean conservative.

Lies? Be more specific. Not agreeing with you on a subject doesn't make it a lie. That's a game the left plays.

Race baiting? How? Was he not white ethnostate boogaloo enough for you. Silliness.

Christian right? Oh no...the guy tried to defend America's culture as founded, which was Christian. You got me! I surrender. Rush was a sellout. I hate Rush now.

Frankly, I think you're just jealous.

When I first listened to Rush many years ago he was good at mocking the “feminazis” and other lunatics. I moved on to other information and only started listening again because he was sick and President Trump gave him the Medal of Freedom. He pushed the mainstream GOP presidential candidates for years. He also gave me the Tucker Carlson vibe of a guy who would only do superficial work, like mocking a goofy college professor. Having said that, he was a superstar broadcaster, like Art Bell, who may have put a lot of bullshit out there, but who could teach a lot of broadcasters today how to do their jobs.

It’s unbelievable. I’ve said it a million times, but the psyop that turned “anti-establishment conspiracy theorists” into bootlicking Republicans is an incredible feat. No one here has any coherent ideology.
