I want this place to survive. I'm active here every day, trying to do my part to lift up good content.
We need a mod team, not one person. I'm seeing pornographic images on the new feed late at night. Also obvious trolling posts. Right now, there's a pin up photo of the First Lady on the top of the hot page. One person can't manage it 24/7.
.
We need agreed upon rules. Can you use hateful language and tear down other members on a personal level? Can you post porn? Are memes allowed? What about tweet screenshots? Are SS required?
.
We need shared focus. What's the ethos of this place? I'd like to see it develop into a place of shared learning and information. Collaborative in nature. A lot of people (mostly shills) are just here to tear others down and kill friendly, open discussion.
.
We need to combat shills. I'll define this as people who don't want to participate in the community in good faith. They never make posts or comments, except to lash out at other users or the community in general. They only make posts or comments that aren't conspiracies and are intended to incense the community.
.
CSS upgrades is a lower tier need, but it would be cool to give this place some personality and life to help draw in new users. Flair would be great. Categories to sort by (if possible) would be great.
....
This probably came off a bit like shitting on the mods. I apologize if so. I am thankful for the community provided by doggos and to axolotl_peyotl for bringing us here.
.
TLDR: I think there needs to be a community discussion about forward steps.

Need new mods, not the same reddit ones, they'll be too busy over there anyway.
The less rules the better I think, just don't post illegal content, or porn if it isn't relevant to the conspiracy.
You can't stop shills or people you disagree with without suppressing their speech as well
Agreed, I think we just need 1 or 2 with win mod experience, not reddit.
Agreed here as well...no doxxing, porn etc.
agreed here as well, the only folks banned so far have been spammers.
but eventually it will start to be clear if certain accounts never post good content and only harass the folks here...they might be eligible for a ban but nobody's really hit that threshold yet from what I've seen.
I hate posts that just redirect back to reddit, there is a reason we left.
agreed, screenshot, unless something spectacular is going on, I wouldn't ban or anything unless it became a feed hogging issue
Just need more people and the content will come and the good stuff gets upvoted.
Takes time.
I like the idea, from r/con, of a stickied semi-regular documentary discussion, general discussion, and even like you say, books would be a cool addition...more difficult though since you’d either need to hunt down a pdf or just deal with a less lively discussion. Though finding a PDF isn’t that hard for most things these days.
after putting up with more and more reddit censorship since DNC coronated $hillary in '16, my preference is to allow even 4chan level discourse.
personally, I liked the SS rule from r/conspiracy as well as the "attack the argument, not the author" ability to report shitty comments. but if there has to be a choice, I'd prefer to err on the side of 4chan freedom.
v/QRV has to deal with disruptive posts but one pretty quickly learns what can be ignored.
r/climateskeptics has one basic rule that works pretty well IMO:
Don't disparage the sub.
You could add, for greater reach, while retaining simplicity:
Don't disparage the sub, or mods & users thereof.
(or something to that effect)
The word "disparage" can be made to cover quite a lot:
Synonyms:
Some examples:
porn shit posters are disparaging the sub, even if they don't do so in words.
Bad faith TMOR stalkers disparage the sub and users by coming here to troll and harass.
etc.
Fuck that, mods and users need to be called out publically if needed. Reddit is where people hide from their problems
No one would get banned for a few instances of bitching out an OP or some shithead commenter, but if your only contribution is MSM articles and snide comments about how this place is “effectively stormfront”, after a while I think those people should just be booted, they aren’t participating in good faith and that’s practically a requirement of productive discourse.
Sure. Make completely vague rules a d enforce them at yohr leisure so you can silence and ban anyone who's opinion you don't like.
That worked so well on reddit, right?
It's not mod rules that wrecked Reddit. It's Admin / Anti-Evil rules, terms of service and enforcement. The mod written rules on r/conspiracy are not too bad, there's just to many of them. Consolidation required.
If the rules on /r/conspiracy would be enforced for all users and not be abused to silence dissenting voices then yes, they would not be that bad.
I can help define the ethos that this place should have.
This should be a place for free speech where people can debate controversial topics in the search for truth.
We are living in an information war and the only way to win is with honest and open public debates that share and analyze contradicting sources of information.
It's a shame that reddit is being run by shills with an agenda. I would hate that this site became exactly the same but for a different group of people. These are my 2 cens.
We need voat style rules:
This will stop trolls easily, make a 30 comment karma score to be able to post. Also making this website look dead to visitors/guests will stop potential trolls also. This is what Voat does.
If you want a dead forum maybe go back to boat then, ones already available for you
Agreed 100%, either this or a similar discussion should be stickied, ideas posted as comments and the ones that the community can (mostly) agree on should either become the rule, or atleast tried temporarily to gauge the effect on discussion (for example, get rid of votes and rank posts by comments, has pros and cons that could be debated) but for real something needs to be done about the shills trying to bury discussion.
I’m seeing pure garbage being posted by obvious shills to flood the queue, and I’m seeing downvote brigades with no comments to bury real posts.
For example my post has been up for two hours, 43 votes (22 up 21 down) with a single comment. Show me another post on this site getting downvotes like that without any comments shitting on it.
Yeah, that's an unusual one. From the title, I have no idea what it's about, so probably not drive by downvotes. Who watches a 17 minute video, downvotes, and doesn't leave a comment?
Exactly! Multiplied by 21 different times in 2 hours...fuckin whack.
But back on subject, yeah some kind of ground rules need to be set. And I agree we can’t depend on a single person to squat on the queue doing clean up. If ground rules are well established there wouldn’t be much to fear from a handful of new mods (I.e. only super egregious things get removed, even obvious shilling gets left up, to be ridiculed)
Also, how does an ad for vitamins stay up for 16 hours and get upvotes? https://conspiracies.win/p/11R4q2bwDj/why-they-fear-us/
CSS options include fav icon (the one in the tab at the top of your browser), flair, logo, header image, up/down counters, etc. You can get the feel for different options on some of the other .win sites.
I mean I'm just one person, but I think something like this style would be badass for the header: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2017/images/07/10/declassified.h.key.art.jpg Although, I would laugh if the upvote button was a tinfoil hat.
Less rules than /r/conspiracy please, you have to be a lawyer to understand that shit.
This win needs a “controversial” sort too.
Second
Just don't be like reddit that's all I want
You're going to be walking a really thin line with this. Trolls obviously have no place on this forum, but I'm definitely worried this will quickly turn into killing anti-MAGA, but otherwise relevant, posts and comments.
So long as the rule is tightly worded, I don't have an issue with it.
Trolls are allowed here sorry
I see Doggos is a mod. We're already off to a good start.
Like I said no shade on Axo. I've seen your posts around, and you seem legit as well. But no one can stay up 24/7 to monitor the feed. We can't let the it turn to trolls/porn/shit during Axo's off hours. We can add mods in a calculated, slow way. Axo and doggos will retain control. They can always remove bad acting mods if any were to sneak past. This platform is different from Reddit in that way I believe.
Not different from Reddit. On Reddit each mod has seniority over mods who come after them, and can remove any mod below them in the chain.
But yeah, this place definitely needs more mods. When completely off-topic trump propaganda images get regularly upvoted to the top of Hot, you know the community alone isn't going to be the solution.
Maybe the TDW crowd will lose interest in time and we can get back to focusing on conspiracies. But until then it seems like we need mods to remove clearly off topic material.
I love conspiracies and tump is involved in a lot of them so I will always be posting trump related conspiracies so if you were looking for a safe place away from orange man this isn't it
As long as it relates to some sort of conspiracy it's all good with me.
I would prefer to see SS for posts.
Agreed, I think this only improved r/con ... it’ll be more of an honor system with no auto mod, which i think is preferable because some stuff just doesn’t need it, whereas for a lot of other posts it lets you weed out the lowest effort trolls/forum sliders a little easier
If you can’t come up with two+ sentences to convince us to watch/read your shit, how much value does it really offer the community.
REMEMBER MYSPACE? DO WE WANT MYSPACE?
chut up, dummy.
DATA. INFOZ. LINKS'SHIT.
COME ON, SON.
I actually think this place needs voat style rules. Can't post submissions or downvote until have enough karma and maybe 1+ weeks have passed. This stops people from just making accounts to manipulate or brigade. Well it will still be possible but will require considerably more effort. Blatant astroturfing has destroyed reddit.
That would kill any remaining activity. That sort of thing only works when the community is already well established and there are way more members already
Yes it could happen. Maybe would make sense to implement when the site grows (assuming it grows).
ss is submission statement. r/conspiracy required you to include them with image and link posts to tell people how content was relevant to conspiracy, why we should check it out, etc.
I like having conspiracy memes in the mix myself!
Good idea in principle but as we have seen on reddit, it is only being enforced to censor posts the mods don't like.
It’s a fucking robot that removes your post if you can’t manage to write two sentences about it in 20 minutes, seems fair but then obvious shills would be forced to be even more obvious, I could see why you are against that.
No illegal content, fuck having other rules. That's why there is a downvote button.
Can’t we use ML? Do we have some sort of budget?
I mean, Azure cognitive services could do this automatically out of the box. We could put the “censored” posts in a “censored” section for those who want to see what’s being thrown out. Then mods would only have to uncensor posts that have been filed as “unjustly censored” by the OP.
Im down to be a mod, also i think posts should consist of conspiracy theories, IF they include nudity its w.e but posts that are just porn for the sake of porn are stupid and should be removed. were here to point out and discuss the action of plotting or conspiring.
Some people will immediately shitpost just to test the waters. When they realize we are a sincere place they will probably start making worthwhile posts.
apparently, youve never heard of *chan forums.
4chan has mods and rules. For example from /rpol:
This board is for the discussion of news, world events, political issues, and other related topics.
.
Off-topic and /b/-tier threads will be deleted (and possibly earn you a ban, if you persist). Unless they are quality, well thought out, well written posts, the following are some examples of off-topic and/or /b/-tier threads:
.
Stormfront? Lmfao fuck off gaslighter, your comments have been 99% dogshit since your arrival here. Let’s see this highly upvoted antisemitic topics you’re crying about, should be easy if this place is practically stormfront. You {faggot}
verso has been disenfranchised from his OG crew and our crew.
hes trying to find footing in these crazy times.
hes prob gay.
With these new rule implementations, there won't be much difference between here and r/conspiracy.
