What I am getting at is that you can say that everyone on earth is part of an ethnic group in which individuals perpetrated atrocities. Do you hold them all responsible for what was done by other people who were alive centuries ago? If not, why do you hold people of a particular ethnic group accountable in this manner?

All kidding aside, managing resources and knowledge on a global scale is a noble effort. The greatest problem I see is self-serving (and self-appointed) people gaining too much global influence and using it to usurp leadership positions of a new world government. Then it would be very, very hard to resist them in any meaningful way. There will be no potential liberators left and modern (future) technology will let them utterly destroy people who don't comply.
You have to wonder if the name was chosen to slowly get the idea of a world government into people's minds.
