Can you imagine if a few years ago 10 kids died of measles? It would be national news for months and lobbyists would be pushing for millions of kids to be force vaccinated, and exception rights to be removed. Now 1k dies and no one bats an eye lid.
I had my whole reddit account nuked for a post I made on /r/conspiracy It was a freedom of information letter about covid from a hospital. The contact details and name of the person were censored, but the publicly available hospital address wasn't censored. And I got done for doxxing or something. The stupid part about it was, my post was never removed, it was still up. A week or two later reversed the ban after appeal. I was then banned from /r/pics for a comment along the lines of implying masks were not effective because 'cases' of covid were sky rocketing anyway despite widespread compliance. I asked what rule I broke, the admins said none just they don't tolerate 'misinformation'. So they are just now outright banning people for going against whatever the chosen narrative is. Reddit is committing suicide.
Digg at the beginning was good. But it slowly became advertising disguised as user submitted news stories. It was obvious as well they were deliberately driving traffic to certain websites. A hand full of power users and their network of 'friends' were controller the site. In the end they quite literally sold it out to the advertisers, it was fucking ridiculous. Something else has happened to reddit. It's been turned into a propaganda machine for government, and insane echo chamber. Politics has really made the site unbearable for me.
Correct the record in 2016 publicly admitted they were going to spend MILLIONS to troll reddit and other sites. Astrotufing was so blatant on reddit that shareblue articles would routinely hit the front page. Yet despite all this money being spent all they cared about was a few potential 'Russians' posting links that got little to no upvotes. That tells me reddit had been completely compromised by the democratic party. I think most people would sell out if you paid them enough.
