I'd just prefer we bounce sooner than later, even if its more painful in the moment -> rip the bandaid vs slow tear -> would like to at least see things change during my lifetime, but given other countries trajectories, it doesn't seem likely. Seems like another 50-100 years plus slide at least. Of course, sometimes things change 'overnight'.

just most of the things i can't witness live, in person, or through observing my local community and circle of family/friends. cynical, but that's my starting point

from this basis, there was no pandemic, the shots also don't seem to be causing any mass deaths (yet?, idk), apparently everyone watches the 'news' waaaaay more than I do or ever realized they did, people are cool just believing anything someone else says. also, lots of genuinely well-meaning people who for some reason believe other people hundreds or thousands of miles away have their best interests in mind.

...yet

and can you just say 'cause I want cash'

like, thats so close to requiring a receipt / invoice and denying withdrawals for nearly any other arbitrary reason

Admittedly, my net mostly consists of 25-60 year olds, but also my parents, my wife's parents, and her extended family are all 65-80. The other commenter suggested I "don't go out" which is relatively inaccurate. I'd have to assume I 'go out' and meet/know more than the average person my age (certainly not as much as others, but I'd guess somewhere in the 60-75th percentile? idk).

I'm inclined to believe your/other people's data, its just odd that its not been observable to me at all. 100 people from job a, hundred to thousands from job b (i'd def know if someone died or had any debilitating medical issues there), friends, family, etc. Worst thing that's happened is some people had cold/flu symptoms for a couple weeks. And like 2 people in my wife's extended family died, but that's normal for a couple year period and people over 60...

Idk, of course this is all just anecdotal / my personal experience, just strange

Not to take either side, but I have observed zero 'real' effects on people/population from either 'covid' or the vaccines. Like, no discernible differences from any other year. The only thing still weird to me is how there are staffing shortages at jobs that were relatively well staffed 2 years ago; i'm fairly certain all the unemployment stuff in my state/region ended quite a while ago.

I mean, this just gives strength in numbers to the refusers (which is a good thing). They've held the numbers kinda closely, and its been somewhat difficult to figure out who else amongst the ranks has refused/who your brethren are, but 40k is a relatively huge number. Of course higher would be better, etc, but still

I don't remember the exact list, but a chunk of them did sue over some of the federal vaccine mandates

Obviously "we'll seek judicial remedy" has its own issues - keep doing the illegal thing until stopped, and receive no punishment

Even the mildest amount of general skepticism would have sufficed. Whether or not it was fully an 'easily disprovable con', at best it was 'fishy and clearly this isn't the whole story'. Basic observation and not just blind obedience would have done it.

Can an entity not claim "Look at our source code and see for yourself" while at the same time run code that is altered slightly to spy on its users.

The idea here is typically client vs server

You run the open source client code, which handles the encryption, then pass it to the server (which purports to be the same as the open source code that is published) which essentially just acts as a coordinator / message passer. Very high level.

Of course, there are ways this breaks down:

  1. Server code is not the same as the open source code, and has been altered to either keep more logging (where and when messages are going, but not necessarily whats in them), or store messages for later attempts at breaking the encryption
  2. The client code is not actually the open source code, in the case that it came from a marketplace of some sort and depending on if/how it was signed/hashed
  3. Operating system - I'm assuming you're running the app on some sort of device with an OS

There are ways to secure against some or all of these, but each step takes more effort, usually for both the sender and receiver (i.e. sending messages as encrypted attachments, using relays/proxies, etc)

And, in general, just assume that these things are happening and act accordingly

Truly don't understand how its hard to answer the question "should we de facto force injections on people?"

The fact that this case takes more than 2 seconds should be telling to people

What might be the earliest we could see another stay/injunction, then, do you think?

There have been a couple times where I was completely wrong about something I was adamant about. It was kind of a '5 stages thing' of realizing I was wrong, realizing 2nd/3rd/etc order effects were caused, determining if there was anything I urgently needed to or could fix, and 'laying low' / taking a backseat for a while. And learning to consider other edge cases in the future.

I live in a pretty insulated area, so I wouldn't have moved likely

I would have taken on as much debt as they'd let me buying an investment house(s) and exercising all financial options around the relevant and likely stocks.

I'd then use any profits to further insulate myself/family from further restrictions/mandates/etc

I'd try to warn people, but they wouldn't believe me anyway...

100%. Fuck you for telling me I can't go outside. What the fuck kind of nonsense is that? I get irrationally angry (maybe rationally idk) specifically over curfews.

I don't have the answer, but you'd also really need to do something about the media. I wish there was a good way to deal with the rural/urban divide -> they clearly want different things, but are subject to the same rulers (small gov't would mostly fix this, along with the majority of issues I believe)

But yea, I honestly agree

The news, I think it's called the Gell Mann effect, where you read about stuff you know and see how wrong the media gets it. I saw this with many events I was directly involved in or knew much about.

In the same vein, "leaedrs" who can't even have a remotely intelligent conversation about technology or guns, for instance, are also highly qualified to impose covid, et al, restrictions ("make public health decisions")

I HATE that its so difficult to circumvent major media when discussing stuff

If that were true, why isn't it in the news?
