This is my own half baked theory. It could be the elites know an asteroid is headed here and impact is not enough to wipe out the world but big enough to cause society to collapse. They want to cull everyone beforehand as it means less competition for resources after impact. And it survive chaos before impact when the news gets out. These elites are fixated on 2030 for some reason and one would think they could push back their plans, but maybe they have a hard deadline.
