Another fun one is asking it to mock up Knight moves in chess. “What’s the quickest route from A4 to H6?” It’ll tell you how a knight moves and then immediately give you an example breaking the rule.

They patched it. An older model had a similar issue with counting the number of r's in strawberry.
LLMs don't work at the character level so this is entirely unsurprising.
LLM predict the next token in a sequence, like your Mrs finishing your sentences.
If she's heard the story 100 times she might steal the punchline. That's how creative LLMs are except they've heard millions of stories.
