When I go to space I only use buttonable suits. Sure there's a little leakage but it's convenient. My buddy uses space-rated sweaters made from space wool.
The pressure isn't the problem. The vacuum is. Hard vacuum (10^-6 torr or greater) causes materials to outgas. This means the material weight is literally reduced by the vacuum. The seals of the zipper assembly are are elastomers, which are especially susceptible to outgassing.
Think about deep diving wet suits. Maybe the astronauts wore one of those under the external suit. Yes, to me the zipper system does not seem too leak proof, so maybe another type of fabric was utilized to keep the air in. Rubber seems to be a good fabric. Maybe I'll ask my BIL about the suits, he worked on the Gemini capsule while at Boeing.

dude. do you even duct tape?
hee hee hee
You oughtta see my dental floss spacecraft tether. Gets my teeth clean AND keeps me from being lost in space forever.
Yeah mine's velcro. Easy to get into and out of.
Apollo
Explain in your own words why these zippers cannot withstand 1ATM of pressure
Yet OP believes that this is somehow impossible
You're not getting it.

There's a whole field of materials science related to using this to create thin coatings.
It's not just going underwater in reverse. The hard vacuum of space is a uniquely hostile environment to man-made materials.
Thanks for your opinion.
Now demonstrate that these zippers cannot withstand a vacuum.
But, it's got a pale blue inner lining. That should hold space out.
Space is gay and masonic.
The astral plane is way cooler.
Thank you, Doctor Strange.
It's pointless to discuss it with you because when you're proven wrong on a point you vanish.
