Though it is a popular (and biased) notion to say that JP Morgan, the evil banker, pulled the plug on Tesla and stifled his work, the fact of the matter is that Tesla defrauded JP Morgan.
You can' t take money from people on false pretenses and not deliver what you promised to deliver. And that is essentially what Tesla did. He told Morgan he was working on wireless communication, but instead was working on a wireless power transmission moonshot which never panned out and Morgan never agreed to.
I don't care who you are, this would be infuriating. If you pay a guy to build you a new deck but instead he tells you "I thought you could use a new guesthouse along with the deck so I built that and I'm billing you" would you not be shitting bricks?
I'm not saying JP Morgan is the "good guy" here, but I am saying Tesla was more self sabotaged than someone with a conspiracy against him. Morgan legally and rightfully decided not to fund the new and more expensive ideas which Tesla started working on with his money.
His technology for wireless power delivery could be repurposed to wirelessly transmit information. When JP Morgan and Westinghouse (who were also HEAVILY invested in copper) discovered his true motive, they pulled the plug because it greatly threatened their other investments (as well as the established power structure)
Guggenheim were big in copper. Asarco mine. Atracked in tx to start the mexican revolution.
Possibly inside job.
His idea was much more costly than normal wireless information transmission. His competitor was making it happen for less, while Tesla was asking for far more money for an overly ambitious and experimental idea.
Westinghouse and Morgan didn't owe Tesla anything for which they'd never agreed to. They didn't write him a blank check.
His competitor... Marconi? They guy who used multiple Tesla patents without attribution to develop his technology?

Technically did beat tesla, but had to use tesla's inventions to get anything to work long distance. Without stealing teslas work, he likely would have never done it on his own.
But im kinda appalled at op here, he may "technically" have a point, got to love loopholes.
But what he is comparing it to would be more like commissioning someone to make a tower to transmit radio waves long distances, which by the way takes immense power, which is why tesla's patents were so important to doing it, without them they couldnt have generated the power needed to oscillate and boost the signal.
And then finding out it could also do another thing, without much more work if any. Since the nature of both are so similar. See what I did there. It would more akin to asking someone for a toast maker, but it could toast your bagels too.
But even if op's point were true.
He went on and destroyed the mans career for it, leaving him penniless and alone. Who the fuck does that after? A fucking mad man, thats who. He could have stopped by pulling the funding, he didnt have to destroy his career.
I think he speak volumes over what any corrupted history book could tell me.
Even just a google search shows result after result, all from within the last 6 years saying how it wasnt jp morgan that ruined him, but his own fault. Yes, i totally believe that.
Jp morgan made damn sure that he would never work for anyone in america again, I have very little doubt, he owned most of the eletrical companies it seemed, if not all.
Another thing also, is we were always taught growing up that the wardenclyffe tower was not real, that it was all fake. Now that its been proven to exist, the narrative quickly shifts and were taught that nikolai tesla, the godfather of electronics, was so insane and crazy he couldnt manage simple finances or find someone willing to hire him.
Come the fuck on.
Except that it says he needed much more money for it. Also if it was such a good idea, why is no one doing it today? Nobody silenced Tesla, he died a full 40 years later.
All this Tesla larping is nonsense.
Nobody has that power.
This guy was a world class genius and if he didn't sabotage himself he could have gone anywhere with his skills. Period. He got lost into mysticism and nonsense in his later years that ruined a good mind.
If it was so simple to do why didn't Tesla do it? He was on contract to do it but didn't. He can complain about patents all he wants, he didn't get the job done.
