The catch is that the masses are not necessarily informed about the real state of things and instead are being fed bullshit stories about garage inventors, bedroom singers turned popstars, businessmen pulling up themselves by the bootstraps and other such nonsense, while in reality no one gets anywhere substantial unless it's approved.

In some countries, it's easier than in others though depending e.g. on the costs of education.

Well, some social mobility does exist, but it is much (much) smaller than you might think. Absolute majority of people will die in the same class they were born.
Also, that is not quite what I meant. What I meant was that all (or almost all) persons of any influence are there deliberately, because of their class and approval from above. There are no self-made celebrities. There are no self-made influentical politicians. There are no self-made multi-bilionaires.
Sure, you could manage to become a moderately successful music producer (for example), and you could even manage to make a moderate living out of it. But you will never ever become an A list celebrity if you're not from the Families and if you're not vetted and approved by them.
Another bit to consider: All presidents of the US are related, including Obama and Trump. They are all relatives. This is not a secret. My point was that the same extends to celebrities, business figures, all other politicians and generally to everyone of considerable influence.

I think I formulated it clear enough. We live in a caste (or class) society where no one gets anywhere substantial (or of influence) unless they have correct genealogy and it's approved by the Families.
