Reddit, Conspiracies, COVID & Coups - The Curious Case of axolotl_peyotl
This original documentary about Reddit is my first new project since my YouTube ban last month. Thanks to ALL my subscribers here on Odysee, you've given me hope that this music won't be lost forev...
Good doc. Digg which was popular years ago ended up becoming advertising disguised as news. Because a front page digg link generated so much traffic people quickly realised by gaming the site they could make a nice amount of profit from ad-venue etc. The site was almost setup to make this possible, as people would have a network of 'friends' which would vote on each others links. Frustration of grew in the user base, at this obvious gaming as well as censorship of certain topics that were happening. In the end I forget the guys name, but he took one of the most popular sites on the internet and literally sold it to media/advertisers effectively destroying it, removing the ability for users to upvote stories and comment. It was truly ridiculous, but I guess the guy made off with a nice sum of money.
Reddit was always vulnerable to the same corruption, but I think because of the way it was setup initially it lasted longer before the same kind of corruption happened. I mean there are sites where you can literally buy upvotes and game the system. This has been known since forever, and no admins ever cared to mention it. But what I think really killed reddit was Trump. Trump, love him or hate him had HUGE online grass roots support. During the election cycle correct the record with a budget of millions publicly stated they were going to game social media sites (including reddit) totally transformed politics on the main subs in favor of Clinton, almost over night. Ultimately this failed as Clinton still lost. But I believe after this reddit totally got in bed with government and special interests to remove all conservatives. The same thing happened to twitter. But they turned a decent site into a cluster fuck from hell.
u/axolotl_peyotl :D
Now I want to dive back into the 19th century airship mystery.
He has some great songs if you like that kind of stuff. He seems pretty talented. I thought his recent video about Sirius was pretty entertaining.
Yeah, I discovered him through his music early last year.
Guys, support and share Foundring’s channels! This was an epic undertaking on his part.
FOR R/CON OLDHEADS:
(Here’s my message to him in response after watching:)
Thank you so much, Foundring!
I joined what i now call r/con (get it, “archon”?) in 2010, and deleted my account the day after Axo was booted.
The “internet drama” and history of r/con depicted in your documentary was second only to MAD magazine in shaping who I am today.
I’m so very happy that you’ve summarized and packaged such an integral part of my life into something concise that I can “click to share” with others. For those outside the community, as always, “YOU HAD TO BE THERE” to fully grasp its significance, importance, etc.
Getting your mind blown open at 2 AM in a fit of insomnia by browsing /new on r/con giving chills up the spine was an experience unlike any other.
Sometimes, It was like reading a book so good, that hit so hard, you just had to lay it down for a second… rub your eyes… say “WTF?”… and then take a moment to process before picking it up again.
I followed Axo to the .win platform, but it’s just not the same, it was a golden moment in time, a zeitgeist of the internet age.
I'm sorry to have missed it.
Well I'm here now and will have to see how this goes.
Yooo!!!! I made it into the doc!
Didn’t think I’d be up for 3 hours on such a sour topic, but that was so well made (and the use of posts to tell the story was genius) I watched it in one sitting. Imo would be interesting even to people who never were a part of r/Conspiracy, which is quite an accomplishment for a documentary about a fringe message board lol!
u/foundring great job! Thanks for being a creator and embracing your gifts and the truth!
u/axolotl_peyotl thanks for fighting the good fight for so long brother!
u/clemaneuverers thanks for picking up the torch!
"Imo would be interesting even to people who never were a part of r/Conspiracy"
That's me, never really used reddit much at all.
Internet feels like it's getting smaller
Great documentary and soundtrack Foundring.
I never created an account at Reddit despite being prompted to over a hundred times.
I always thought that reddit was a downgrade from the forums I enjoyed in the late 90s and early 00's. Therefore, I always thought it to be a bit cartoonish and the conversations harder to follow. I didn't like to have to click buttons to expand discussions. Tracking replies was difficult.
Another reason I thought reddit was too mainstream and normie was that it showed up high in web searches and it seemed that google was promoting reddit as search results stemming from forums / discussions. Not sure of the timeline of this. Maybe 2015-onwards?
One of the things i don't like about dot wins is that it is too heavily based upon reddit in design and format. Also, the secrecy of who owns and runs these dot wins is suspicious. Could be honey pot or could be good guy who just wants to remain anonymous. Not sure I give much a shit either way.
Having these power struggles on other people's platforms might not be the best strategy. We really should design and have our own platforms even though I know that is not as easy as it sounds.
This brought back a lot of memories.
hahahah nice I feel famous for my shoutout at 2:35:01
and yes, I am, or was, veri_quaerens_sum.
Good on you for sticking up for Axo!
It was the right thing to do. I regularly called "people" out for talking bad about him because it was just baseless bullshit and obviously stemming from the cesspool of the internet, tmor.
Then I was sitewide permabanned right after posting about the power structure that the TuMOR mods control.
Did you happen to save or archive your post anywhere? I always assumed they were JIDF-affiliated.
And I totally agree with the OP, thank you for sticking up for Axo. I remember seeing your full name before, I'm sure I have some posts saved from you in my thousands of bookmarks. 😂
edit2: FOUND IT! https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/10nxclv/how_is_a_top_mod_of_topmindsofreddit_also_a_top/
But, my comment breaking down the mods aside from /Moranall was also deleted by /conspiracy mods... That said, Reveddit to the rescue: https://www.reveddit.com/v/conspiracy/comments/10nxclv/how_is_a_top_mod_of_topmindsofreddit_also_a_top/j6bgi77/
Long story short, all I did was summarize their mod's power structure.
One of their top mods, /akwardtheturtle, has well over 60,000,000 people under their "control" through modding subs like /art (22mil), /TwoXChromosomes (13mil), and /whomesomememes (13mil) to name a few. Plus TMOR of course.
/RalphiesBoogers has about 20,000,000 under their control.
/duckvimes runs subs like /actualconspiracies, /dylanroof, and /whiteeurope. Those last 2 definitely aren't blatantly obvious honeypots, I'm sure.
/facehammer mods /conspiratard (TMOR's foundation) and /GroupStalking plus numerous others.
This one is hilarious, /Moranall runs a plethora of subs, one being "/AgainstHateSubreddits" which is so hilarious ironic that I actually lold. They also mod /conspiracytheories
That was about long story short. The /conspiracy mods removed it, then I was inundated with people telling me to kill myself, then my account was sitewide permabanned with no offending comment linked. It literally said I was "breaking the rules" without citing anything specific.
edit: oh, and if you find that curious. One of the top /conspiracy mods is the only mod on /palantir. The other is suspended.
Hey thanks a lot for tracking that down and typing all that up! Apparently I actually saw that thread, because I upvoted/downvoted some stuff, but I didn't see the bulk of info you posted here. I find it interesting that reveddit doesn't mention which mod purged your posts either.
You clearly touched on a sensitive subject for them though since they banned your account. I'm pretty sure some TuMORs found there way into the conspiracy mod team, because the place has pretty much gone to total shit without Axo.
And I guess I shouldn't really be surprised that place is such shit considering they let Ghislaine run wild as a power mod or whatever for years.
No worries! That comment was [removed] within a couple hours after posting it. openmodlogs.xyz says it was amos, but I can understand the reasoning based on the comment they pinned... I guess...
Oh, I wasn't banned by /conspiracy, Reddit banned me. I had a relatively innocuous comment removed by their "anti-evil operations" in that thread, and about an hour later I was sitewide permabanned.
Came here in 2021 to find out truth about the pandemic. Ended up finding out about the jews over at c/consumeproduct. I still cant believe i went from moderate uninterested in politics to full-blown nazi sympathizer in such a short time. Not advocating any jewish hate over here, but oh my god i never thought id be agreeing with "evil holocaust deniers".
Its at a point where nearly every conspiracy ive looked intohas been confirmed true. There are still many i havent looked into because they seem ridiculous (ie flat earth), but now I dont rule out ANY "crazy" claim until I look into it in depth. Thats what i thought about holocaust denial. It seemed so absurd and evil i never bothered to look into it.
Its also what i thought about the pandemic.
I simply assumed there was no way the world governments would/could collaborate on a myth at that scale if it wasnt true since they could never agree about anything else. So i just dismissed conspiracies on that notion alone.
u/foundring is an OG artist and truth teller. Ill be using some tactics to make sure the Streisand Effect comes full force against Jewgle and reddit.
Thank you to all you truth tellers out there who never gave up on trying to awaken the masses. I feel some duty to do the same; it must be done artfully though because it is so har to convince people theyve been fooled than to fool them.
I would've suggested not using 3 ks and the words konspiracy and kapo in your name, but it's too late now and it's just an opinion. (kak)
Good luck tho fren.
Lol, was going for alliteration, Kakapo is a type of parrot.
Owl parrot. Interdasting.
Just make sure you don't blow your acc load before the handshake goes away.
The what and the what?
fwiw, there's a couple of totally-organic-not-at-all-shills-or-forum-sliders who just show up in the comments to shit on OP's and/or other users. if a user is just shitting on you or the post, check the post histories. the cuntiest users have little to no post history. don't waste your time on them. whatever reason those users are spending time here, it sure as fuck isn't to build anything positive or convey useful information.
also, welcome :)
Thanks, good advice. Your post history looks good lol.
You’re one of them.
The only people who get shit on are the people obviously sliding and hate larping.
Like you! Piece of shit.
Doesn't add up to me, his history looks pretty good.
You might just be legit agro for good reason, but your posts are way more aggressive than most.
Even his name screams “I’m a fed trying to pretend to be an edgy anon.”
If they aren’t shills, then fuck them 10x harder for being such useful idiots.
Yes. If I had to guess, 80% of the users here are from a shill farm.
Mostly they spam random meme content and useless filler stuff, mostly benign.
But anyone who instantly starts ranting about “muh joo” regardless of context, or constantly brings every conversation there, are likely feds.
Anyone trying to get you to say something in support of IRL violence, or to use violent rhetoric, is probably also a fed.
They are relatively easy to spot.
Thanks for that, the internet is a shit show to navigate these days.
