I don't think that China particularily cares about economic turnmoil, except as a means to an end, which is always power.
Why did China give hundreds of bad loans for infrastructure projects across the developing world? To gain footholds in those countries.
Why does China frequently and artificially devalue their dollar? To dominate global manufacturing and weaken their enemies.
Even when they do something that benefits their economy, like stealing tech from other countries, they only do it to undermine those countries' companies and infrastructure.
So, why would China release the virus on themselves? Not saying they did (could have been negligence and the lab was funded by the USA) but they have a large and aging population which will need to be cared for. Covid disproportionally affects the elderly. The hit to their economy probably isn't even as bad as the effect of having a majority useless population for the next 30 years. Not to mention the renewed obedience in the population that fear of Covid has inspired; they didn't even resist being welded into their homes until a building full of people burned down cause Covid.
On top of that, they'll probably come out on top economically as well. From where are we buying our PPE? Which companies survived, local ones or large global ones who have plants in China?
The ones feeling the temporary economic downturn are the citizens of China, and their government couldn't care less about them.
As Hong Kong protests broke out.. so came the actors convulsing in the streets, the shutdown and dissidents arrests by armed men in hazmat suits pulling people from homes and making them disappear.

They even caught a lot of the 'dead' and 'sick' in the West was acting and fake (they messed up on videos).

Ive possibly had 1 flu in life that I can remember, two upper respitory infections, 1 pneumonia. Im 38 sure to have something in the future, and no clue as to how many coronavirus’s I have been exposed to. It is also possible that i will develop no taste which i could care less about.
-Also, possibly they are worried about the amyloidosis that the spike protein can cause and they already have demographic issues which will mess them up by 2021.

I was on board with the "China did COVID" theory up to this year. Seeing how China is hamstring themselves more than the rest of the world at this point, my money is now on covid being a globohomo op. we already know the virus was leaked from the lab in China, and if I remember correctly, research into the virus was heavily funded by the US. The blame transcends country borders.
I lean more towards it was the USA that released covid. From what we've already seen with Fauci getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar funding gain of function research.. I think it makes more sense that it was the USA, especially when considering how China has run with these zero covid policies. I personally knew people that caught covid from one person at a party who had been travelling, and everyone at the party caught it and got sick. Two people that attended this party got REALLY sick. Guess which ethnicity they were? Yup, Asian. At the time, one of my white friends casually threw out a joke and said 'haha it looks like covid really hits asians hey?' But it was that comment that got me thinking that whatever this was, was mutated and designed to specifically target certain genes much more aggressive than others. It would explain why China has gone to such great measures to contain it.
The virus was made by Americans in China, not by the CCP directly. They are scared because they don't trust the stories of which bioweapon was released.
They probably released it to quell the Hong Kong protests, and probably are continuing to use it to suppress protests. It has always been a low-fatality protest suppression tool, and it's the perfect thing for the job.
