Here's the real story, stranger than fiction in this case.
Aliens were a serious concern. I kid you not. Everybody but Mitchell signed a complete no-disclosure. Aliens WERE there at launch and there were 3rd kind encounters (aliens out of vehicles) at distance, on the moon.
If you had the chance to listen to their audio recordings (now 'lost') you would hear the code words being used rather obviously and NASA repeatedly asking about the astronauts confidence, willingness to continue.
NASA's contingency plan: fake shots of moon areas.. Rumor is Kubrick did it. If the aliens started shit / shit went sideways, something horrific happened: fake footage and quick tragedy.. The chance of world wide panic regarding aliens was considered to be too high to not have a plan.
Plenty of aliens on the moon. Its our solar systems most accessible and largest concentration of accessible titanium.
I've been saying this for 20+ years. Before 90% of fuckers would even acknowledge UFO's.. And here we are, the intelligent people still pitted against all the sheep asking permission to believe anything.
