First I'd talk to this politician you speak of about stricter regulations on food labeling. The lobbiests from various megacorp food conglomerates keep this politician fat and cash positive so that he let's them label waste materials and other nightmarish ingredients as "natural flavoring" and other creative terms. This is deliberate.
There is absolutely no economical sense to use cricket flour now as a business trying to keep costs low. It also doesn’t provide any taste advantages that would make your product unique or better than products that use regular flour. This baby step is to normalize “eating bugs” in the general population. We will see more products use variations of bug related, minor ingredients. And as the short years go on, bug ingredients will become bigger components, until the day they are the primary components.
Grocery stores will be infested with them.
