I see them mostly likely as being either the result of intense genetic modification - from an earlier “height” of human civilization, perhaps just pre-diluvian, perhaps even older - or possibly - “extra terrestrial” in some respect.

This is just a small one too, according to historical accounts and remains found around the world. Giants grew to heights upwards of 30+ ft.
The biblical accounts verify this as well, as the Israelites referred to themselves as feeling like grasshoppers compared to their size. Incredible.
The picture looks about like how tall Og (one of the last giants of the Rephaim) would have been in Deuteronomy 3:11. This was after some watering down of the genetics from the larger ones before the flood of course.

There were some hoaxes, unlike the coverage on the turn of the century, mid 1800s, early 1900s. So much coverage cannot lie. But it didn't fit a new evolutionary narrative. In my neck of the woods, not only did they outlaw digging up mounds, they made a folklore around it. If you dig up the mounds, you'll be cursed and something will happen like a bridge collapse.
But a lot of those larger mounds were reported with giants. They go back along time. The mounds that were built into the Earth, often stepped, or raised, and match constellations. Prime Real estate. There a few left in places, many were built over.
Reports of giants go right back to the first settlers and settlements, for centuries. But there was increasing coverage in all the main press outlets up until the early 1900s. Then it all vanished from print. This was at the same time evolution started becoming the narrative. Then dinosaurs replaced the finds.
Ironic that suddenly they all vanished. There's hundreds of finds being aired for centuries. Suddenly no mention today. As in where are they, today? Replaced by dinosaurs never found in history until the 1900s. Laughable.
Mounds were built over or attributed to other people and turned into protected lands. We're told "indigenous" people who haven't progressed beyond a hut were once Earth terra-formers. And they stacked all those rocks up, too.
What I especially like about the American giants were that 1, they were supposedly red-headed and 2, they were found up and down the east coast, Midwest and all the way out to California. They were prolific.
