On a personal note, I was once expressing my doubts about the Holocaust(tm) to someone. She replied, "I've been to the Holocaust Museum and they had a huge pile of shoes from the victims. Looks like these are sandals or slippers, with no back on them. When I need to run in sandals, I usually end up kicking off the sandals instead of trying to keep them on. They really make it more difficult and slow you down because half of your energy is focused on keeping the sandals on your feet, instead of just running.
