Watching is an understatement, I was kind of expecting some narration or audio.
Also, I seem to have randomly clicked to the exact spot these images appear. Around the 29 minute mark.
Yeah, It initially threw me off that it was completely silent but it grew on me.
The author didn't put in any bias that way, just some neat Google Earth stuff and it's up to you to see whatever it is you see
It's best we just forget about those.
I think these are satellite-view markers used to orient a picture of a viewed location. Possibly placed so sats can update that a viewed place's coordinates in its system match what they are supposed to be.

Spy sat calibration markers is what most people say. Sounds like horseshit to me.
Look around that area on Google maps and you'll see large entrances to underground bases or quarries as well.
