I was thinking this: "Why not barter everything!"
If you run out of money, barter goods. Don't have goods? Barter services.
Then I got to thinking. What's a commodity anyone can make at home that can be bartered in any industry? Weed!
We can grow and barter weed. Anyone can grow it and it would be like printing money right in your own home. It is quickly smoked up so inflation is unlikely.
I recommend bartering with weed or anything but weed seems easier.
Also it is important to understand that when the banks shrink the money supply in any country, the economy slows down. Less people work because they don't want to work for free and less people consume because they can't afford to consume. They suffer and people stay jobless. However if they can barter anything and even grow what they barter at home, then the economy would never stop. It would always move forward. It only stops because the 1% hog up the loose capital and without capital in the general economic pool, the whole country slows down.
Exactly. There must be a medium for many things. Most trades will not be direct because not everyone is looking to have the thing you have and let go of the thing he has for that exact thing. If you were trading fruits, you may want to trade 100 of a fruit that takes half a year to grow but it wouldn't make sense to trade it for 100 of a fruit that takes three months. There is a problem with determining units of worth in just that and it already varies throughout the world or even in a small area. Mexican produce can still be cheaper than American produce in the same state after the Mexican produce travels thousands of miles.

Whatever you would buy those apples for are what they are worth. For example, if you can buy an apple for a $1, each apple is worth a $1. If someone wants 20 apples for 3 packs of cigarettes, it's an easy and fair trade.

As far as your trade concerns, this isn’t rocket science. It’s very easy to make trades especially since service trades are possible for those who have nothing. Even if you don’t use an item you trade (ie coffee), you can always use it as currency to trade with someone else.
We should just expand our options to include anything legal and let the people decide. Why limit with cash only is what I am wondering.
I’d personally stay away from crypto because I was warned to by Bill Cooper’s 1995 book explaining how they plan on using it against us. Basically it’s like controlled opposition.
If you tie the value of something to an existing currency, the argument for bartering is weakened, and it's just admitting that you're better off using a currency in the first place.

Check out markets in the middle east to learn/teach yourself what bartering is about...they all out barter for everything and with everyone. Prices (suggested value) represent the temptation of convenience; while being form within flow represents ongoing struggle for self sustenance. Use bartering to test each others internal struggle to resist temptations. Make it about bartering; which always will end up with both parties getting enough of what they need aka choice resonating within balance.

I was but I was just using it as an example. We can barter anything.
In Russia, in late 1980-s - early 1990-s along with huge crisis and inflation people often use a vodka bottles as an universal and stable currency. It was a problem to buy anything, including vodka, and vodka was a special interest for many Russians (not a thing nowdays, really, Russians eventually become more legible and less attracted to alcohol), so it get some special value. You could use a bottle of vodka as a payment for nearly everything, from the car repair job to food or medical service. :) Of course some goods or services could cost a box of vodka bottles, but that really works to some extent. Even people who don't drink at all often accept that currency to spend it later for things they need. However, when economic situation slightly stabilised and vodka become ordinary article of trade, that "people currency" quickly lost it's value.
As for a barter idea - I think it is possible to implement it without any intermediate currency at all. You need a huge database of goods for sale and for purchase where every participant add a list of goods he have for exchange and goods he want. If there will be enough users, it will be easy to calculate a lot of solvable chains of exchanges to satisfy most participants.
Say, in database you have following records:
Obviously, you can quickly figure out the chain of exchanges to make the multipart barter. Using computers you could easily resolve barters including hundreds, or even thousands people. Here is of course would be a question of trust and deals confirmation, but I think it could be solved using modern achievements in computer science from p2p netowrking to blockchains and problem solvers.
