It's more complex than that. Some news sources are just sewage, but some provide good information with just a drop of poison at the right time. Joe Biden's (lack of) corruption is the drop of poison and before the election was the right time.

I used to listen to NPR on my commute a decade or so ago. I noticed a weird shift in commercials around 2012. They were dominated by Big Pharma and drug company ads. I knew they were bought out at that point and stopped listening.
