I read about this yesterday, but I didn't see that they were dropping the idea of "it's like a supercereal variant, you guys" to break the natural progression of ramping up fear. They did the Greek letter thing for this reason and just gave up. They probably had a focus group on this.

Do not take my word for it, there is a full intent to devolve this into the absolute worse case scenario imaginable. You can fight it and you can change it. But no guarantee most people won't be transformed or ptsd-ridden.

You need to basically have Machete killing rampage sprees on the same or higher brutality in Rwanda 1994 to even achieve 70% population wipeout in 5 years. The only reason a deadly variant would be transmitted rather than die along with the first carrier is if that carrier were able to transmit it before dying of it. Even if a few people managed to catch it and die, R would be less than 1 so it would fade away and be no more.
The leaky vaccines ensure the deadly strain will infect many and kill nearly everyone who didn't get these jabs.
