They aren't even moving the goal posts anymore. They keep playing different games.
I read about this yesterday, but I didn't see that they were dropping the idea of "it's like a supercereal variant, you guys" to break the natural progression of ramping up fear. They did the Greek letter thing for this reason and just gave up. They probably had a focus group on this.

"Say goodbye to all but the future we set up on you."
Do not take my word for it, there is a full intent to devolve this into the absolute worse case scenario imaginable. You can fight it and you can change it. But no guarantee most people won't be transformed or ptsd-ridden.
