Democrats' attempt to pass the stimulus still included all the pork.

Fuck off with the pork and then pass the bill. This isn't hard. The bill could literally be one paragraph.

Could have happened months ago. Trump was asking for a stand-alone bill in early October.

Well, why won't the Republicans bring such a bill to the floor?

They have, literally months ago. Nancy wouldn't allow the bills to the floor of the House for a vote. Sure blocked money to Abeyance for months.

CIVICS 101

  • STEP 1: Such bills must originate in the House.
  • STEP 2: Once approved by House, bill goes to Senate.
  • STEP 3: Once approved by Senate, bill goes to President.

When Dems control the House, they rarely allow Republican bills to come to the floor for a vote. (Nancy Pelosi's retarded version of patriotism prevents her from allowing any bill she hasn't added pork to, to come up for a vote.) The bill vetoed by POTUS was written by K-Street rather than our legislators because our legislators have handed over lawmaking & budget writing to their donors.

HOW ABOUT NOT SENDING BILLIONS TO FOREIGN FUCKING COUNTRIES YOU TRAITOROUS PIECES OF FUCKING SHIT?!

"Trying to cap the plan's cost, most of Trump's Republican Party sought $600 in direct payments rather than the $1,200 passed in the CARES Act in March."

The foreign aid is very much in line with Trump's budget requests.

Honestly no one wants to work with anyone except those stealing tax payer money, the uniparty had no problems with all the pork in the bill and all the pay outs to their friends and cronies. Nancy delayed to Trump look bad and now it is back firing because she dragged her feet to long and pissed off too many people who are no delaying to punish her. Tit for tat politics. Meanwhile no one really has the average American in mind.

So we're believing msm headlines now? So Trump says to increase checks to americans and remove the ridiculous pork. Dems say "ok" to increasing check amounts but do nothing about the "pork" which is thinly-veiled money laundering. GOP does nothing, as usual.

The best course of action here is a pocket veto and the whole thing just dies with no chance of a veto override. Congress is too corrupt to continue.

Pretty much. I don't think a lot of the people on this board understand how laws & budgets have to originate in the Dem controlled House. I just dropped in from TD to see if there were any good conspiracies & found a bunch of low info voters trying to figure out basic civics. It's a start I guess, but disturbing too.

Is it still 5,500 pages long?

Yes they just crossed out 600 and wrote 2000 next to it.

How about we open up immediately. No stimulus needed.

How can the minority block a bill?

permalink save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼

This is why basic civics should be a requirement for 6th grade graduation.

Are you saying I lack a proper education in civics?

You're joking right? No, people who think the minority in the House can block a bill or even bring a bill to the floor without the approval of the majority leader (Spkr) need civics ?

We need more money for Israel, what's $500 million going to do? That's downright insulting to our greatest ally.

▲ 3 ▼

I think we should skip the bureaucracy and just have a simple Israel tax that directly takes $2,000 from every American each year. Nothing is too good for our greatest ally.

Oh fucking please! This headline is so disgusting. It doesn't include Section 230 which trump requested. Democrats initially wanted $600 until Trump lambasted them.

You’re conflating the stimulus and the NDAA.

▲ -15 ▼
– MagaPede69 -15 points 4 years ago +5 / -20

Somewhat true. Democrats wanted $1200 but were told by GOP negotiators that the president wouldn't agree to a stimulus that high. Instead, they didn't actually know what he wanted because they weren't actually working with him in the process.

Both sides wanted what they wanted and came together to get something done. Who knew Trump and Bernie were on the same page the entire time?

Who knew Trump and Bernie were on the same page the entire time?

Anyone following things in an unbiased manner, considering trump said he wanted them to “Go Big” on the direct payments on their own with no pork attached. Said like 4 months ago on twitter

I wonder how the GOP can try to swing this one as a benefit to the American people. Trump called for increased stimulus and his party straight dissed him.

I don't know that I would support any GOP candidate if I was a Trump voter at this point.

No pork pls. The pork is ridiculous. Also, yes, fuck the GOP and and DNC for passing the bullshit in the first place.

The DNC has offered to do a solo $2000 bill, said they have the votes. Crickets from the GOP. Your country is hilarious from an outside perspective.

So which is it?

▲ -8 ▼

That's for the other bill. They offered to also pass a separate stimulus for people, and mitch won't hear it.

There's also the problem of tracking on the relief to the standard budget bill which is confusing a lot of people. It's all being poorly presented. Glad I'm Canadian haha.

Before the past couple weeks I had never heard the pork term before, now it seems everyone got their talking points on it. Honestly, I'm Canadian and I don't give a fuck anymore, I read it yesterday or the day before and I'm not going to dig it up. Merry Christmas.

It's pretty common. Trimp ran on limiting wasteful spending as well. It's been an issue 2-3 times in Trump's presidency but this seems to be the worst case of it.

Limiting wasteful spending? Hahaha. Fuck me. Look at the deficit even before covid. The fucking guy spent at least 100 million going to his own resort acts the country for gold when he could play in Washington.

Of he ran on that he fucking failed hard.

Dems have a majority in the house & all bills need to originate in the House. So, what's the problem? I see... you don't actually know how our laws are passed. Got it.

If Dems are in for a solo bill that’s exactly what Trump wanted months ago. Wtf is wrong with the gop then. God I hate our parties sometimes.
