It’s strange so many people jumped on the bandwagon without realizing the shares were expensive because someone was getting paid.

A hedge fund borrows shares and has to pay them back to the lender.

Is it really so crazy that the lender wants the shares to skyrocket in price? Yes, a hedge fund goes bankrupt, but it still ends up in the pockets of the same old people.

Options contracts are purely consensual and don’t affect others who aren’t a part of that contract.
