One would consider getting Russia nuclear programs their start in the first place to be a questionable venture too, but they did some spying on U.S. R&D for Russia's captured WWII loot and the confirmation results of Russia's progress with the leaked materials. Basically they did the spying for Russia in the late 1940's, for that gold to back their own financing and verification of stolen nuclear tech that they also kept for themselves. Of course there was also the "ideal" of balancing out global power, but that's more of a superficial thing compared to what was really behind that kind of effort. The couple that probably would end up telling all, got pushed through their trial and hung before they could do so.

That was kept on the down low, but how else would Russia obtain "the bomb" as fast as they did without help by those deep into the U.S. program? And that also gave Israel all the leverage they needed to pull weight with Europe and the U.S., despite not always acting like the ally they claim to be. Having everything needed for proliferation of those secrets made for quite an underhanded bargaining tool.

Not sure if the Ukraine thing is 100%, but they've been involved with nukes at the beginning of establishing all their international political ties.

Somewhere along the line, people figured out boiling made water safe in situations where it may have been questionable in being fit for drinking. I figured somebody at some point was hungry enough to apply the same logic to meat that didn't look all that fresh, and things started on a roll from there. The fact that cooking not only removed parasites, but denatured some toxins and made certain nutrients a bit more available happened to be a bonus with that discovery.

With what info happens to be out there it's more the size of a fully loaded military duffel bag and weighs over 70lbs. "Suitcase" is a bit of a misnomer, but it just fits in the range of being man-portable.

Not exactly a fan of Gab, but there isn't another service that works as a functional back-end for the Dissenter browser plug-in. Like other social media sites, sometimes they have uses if you limit the scope. (In which case one's discretion can skim below all the B.S. floating on top.)

Now if they start dicking around with that niche use, then I'd be put off by them.

The issue it seems people are overlooking, whether or not Ukraine needs to be saved or protected, is Russia very likely has the ability to reach back. Other countries in all the recent past conflicts never had the ability to project power beyond a neighboring localized region. This very much has the potential to not be the one sided fight that was often the case in other recent history.

Even without threatening full fledged MAD, Russia could put NATO countries into a hard economic freeze by going after vital but soft infrastructure. Petroleum production is an obvious one, electrical grid is also undefended for the most part, and then international shipping is quite vulnerable. Mess any of those up for long enough (if not all of them), and the populace here is going to suffer a lot of difficulty in going through with this particular fight. It's not going to be fun if the power gets knocked out half of the time and you can't fill up your gas tank due to either cost or unavailability. Such things would be disruptive as hell, cause hardship, and will end up tying national guard or reserves just to keep watch in our own countries.

So the wildcard in this thing outside of the context of risking MAD is whether or not we can fully deal with Russia's navy and special forces. They don't need to occupy or control anything, they just need to be able to damage that which we depend upon.

So this thing has the potential to open up a huge can of worms, and do we want to deal with that?

Sometimes it seems like he's not too good at remembering a script or tagline to stick to, but is listening for a cue from something like an audio implant. But has trouble hearing that too, which throws him off. Pausing at times trying to get it together, but it's still not working.

It's really odd when that happens.

It's cute. But unless there are some space-cops we don't know about, whoever actually gets to it first can (and most likely will) call dibs.

Space race hasn't quite heated up yet, otherwise it'd be FFA.

Well they want to use the unguided tour drama to implement an organization that is functionally and organizationally equivalent to cold war era East German Stasi here in the U.S. If they try doing anything as stupid as dicking around with the 2nd in light of that, I suspect that's when the real show begins.

Sure wouldn't hurt to go Wolverines, but the fox is already in the hen house.
