I think you're misunderstanding the Isaac story, I think you misunderstand God's ways.

Dying. Isaac was prepared to sacrifice himself at the hands of his father Abraham per God's order and God stopped them and it was understood that this was a foreshadowing of the sacrifice God Himself would make, He was using a physical illustration and the Hebrews understood.
Blood sacrificing children. The king there even killed his first born set to rule to appease chemosh, pretty sure, but it might not have been in that article.
If you'll remember right, the one true God spared Isaac, this was a foreshadowing of God's coming sacrifice in Jesus, the son who would die to save everyone.

I think God was solidifying the choices Pharoah had all ready been making. (He also drove Nebuchadnezzar crazy and into the wild like an animal and Nebbie saw God's salvation, Praise Him. He has His ways and they're not ours, His thinking is higher than ours and we won't know everything, this side of glory.)
