The data is incomplete that's why. I've seen at least 100 posts showing this is wrong and it's missing the numbers from January this year, and december, which is on par to be the most deaths ever for a december in the US ever.
These are the same wrong numbers that have been posted and corrected at least 50 times on r/conspiracy.
You are basically comparing a full year to this year which is missing the data from January and all of December. Look into it and calculate the numbers themselves, or find one of the hundreds of posts showing these numbers are not in fact correct or updated or even finished for 2020.
