We've been fighting a proxy war in Syria, we destroyed Libya and turned the most functional country in Africa into a failed state and opened the floodgates for mass migration into Europe, we've been drone bombing Pakistanis for decades now, spent years in Afghanistan propping up the opium poppy farmers among other things, and we destroyed Iraq and left it so disfunctional that they couldn't even fight off ISIS.

We haven't tried to annex a country, but we've done damn near everything else. What's the butcher bill for Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Libya? Over a million? How many people impoverished, maimed, killed, or displaced because of our military adventures?

Also, there's good reason to believe the Russians would have turned on us and pushed to take all of western Europe. What stopped them was the use of Nuclear Weapons in Japan. There are people who debate the morality of using the bombs in Japan, but the fact is, they cut the war short and saved millions of lives in Japan AND Europe.
Patton viewed the Russians as "Orientals" and not Europeans. For political reasons, the US let the Russians take Berlin. The Russians were very brutal to civilians and Rape was incredibly prolific.
