We are on the globe, that's why you either need tall masts to rise above circumference, either low frequency, that could be reflected beetween ionosphere and ground, but almost useless for anything modern.
Actually you need just few bucks and little brain to hijack direct images from geostationary meteo satellites to find out a form of earth. No any NASA, no any internet in beetween. Just your own PC, a little USB donlge and old satellite dish, and you get high-resolution realtime pictures of Earth in whole from 30000km afar. Decent enough to compare cloud pattern above you with what you just received to enshure it is realtime and see a real shape of Earth.
