I believe this phenomenon is related to one called "egosyntonicity" and several others, and that all are manifestations of the functioning of a certain type of human consciousness. Thus far, psychologists, brain scientists, philosphers, and studiers of human consciousness have done a completely shit job of unifying and clarifying it.

The basic idea is the imperative for security, and in this sphere that entails something along the lines of "being right", "being the expert", "knowing enough to criticize all others", and so forth along those lines. The sense of superiority fulfills the requirement.

This phenomenon has never been on display more clearly than in recent times, but still no one sees it. Tucker Carlson is more worldly, rational, and even-tempered than most, yet he has been driven to a form on insanity by this. An example:

Tucker Carlson criticises Trump administration and claims 'American empire is over' (indy100 4/6/2026)

Tucker has become anti-Trump recently, and so his rationale is that this all a very bad thing. But can Tucker possibly be ignorant of reports like this?

Study: US regime has killed 20-30 million people since WW2 (Sign of the Times 4/24/2007)

And that was almost twenty years ago, so you can add a few million to those estimates. The US Empire was an industrial-scale mass murderer, yet Tucker mourns the end of it?

Well, the thing is, he doesn't even see that. It has all vanished from his conceptual world as he focuses on how right he was all along about Trump. He's light-years from asking the question, "Hey, was this the plan all along? The thing that so many dreamed about for so long has finally come to pass?"

It's never been more plain that rationality vanishes when the conclusion threatens to kick your ego right in the nuts.

On a personal note, over the last decade or so, I had to throw out about 95% of what I thought I knew about the world. I never felt it threaten my ego. In fact, I saw clearly that it was the way to advance my state of knowledge. One of the things I pitched overboard was the idea that everyone else was like me.

And that's not a bad thing. Just like a body detox where you need to rid the body of many "toxins" known to accumulate over time and cause health issues. With the mind & spirit is the same thing, we all need a complete detox, otherwise we face a certain spiritual death.

One of the things I pitched overboard was the idea that everyone else was like me.

a) The CON in consciousness implies likeness; the SCIOUS in consciousness implies difference. It's putting con + scious together which corrupts natural difference with artificial likeness.

b) Ideas can only be shaped onboard as suggestible information held within memory. Overboard implies into the ocean of perceivable inspiration...which cannot be held onto by a vessel navigating within it.

I believe this phenomenon is related to one called "egosyntonicity"

Ego implies mind holding self within possession, while ignoring the potential of expressing self. Freud and his ilk shape an outside consensus to gain access to the possessive memory (ego). This access is being given by willing belief aka by ones free will of choice holding onto a physical idol or mental ideal.

The SYN in egosyntonicity refers to the consensus within others; while the EGO in egosyntonicity refers to ones own mind holding onto the idea of consensus.

It's consenting to suggested idealism which establishes a consensus aka a relation, which makes any idealistic thought relative aka Einsteins relativism. Freud then uses psychoanalysis upon the synthetic relations of ideas...which those holding onto ideas cannot perceive.

the functioning of a certain type of human consciousness.

To ascertain (affix) any type (form) contradicts its function within flow, while shaping a CONsciousness. Form can only function within flow while apart from one another.

The basic idea is...

The base was before any idea can be shaped.

rationality vanishes when the conclusion threatens to kick your ego right in the nuts.

The ION within conclusion represents nature moving on...to conclude implies a being shutting (clude) itself off from nature by artificially joining together (con) with others.

Rationality implies beings artificially reasoning against one another by joining together, while ignoring that nature sets each being apart from one another.

Nature doesn't vanish if a being chooses to ignore it for artifice; yet artifice tricks a being to believe that nature vanishes...if held onto, hence the need to let go aka pitch overboard.
