Yeah literally says it in the body of the article. The funny part is they are looking into the viewer end which, man thats some telescope that lets you see through the ground.
What got me more curious was the opening paragraph of this article. Must have been written with AI or something, talks about a transatlantic tunnel that was never built but only someones pipe dream. And turns out even that guy believed in globe earth.
Deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean, forgotten for the best part of a century, lies a tunnel linking London and New York.
It was built on the whim of a Victorian inventor with the aim of linking two great cities and developing the kind of friendship that still exists today.
He wanted to make a tunnel from britain to new york, but decided it would have been to much work so he wanted to make a tunnel underneath the seabed.
Was going to create a system of lenses and mirrors that would allow people from both sides to be able to write each other? Anyway, even managed some funding and got some workers but after a collapse which flooded the tunnel, killed most of the workers and then then rest gave up. He "supposedly" went crazy and ended up in a insane asylum.
This story left me with way more questions than answers.
If this is the thing I think it is I'm pretty sure it's just a TV screen streaming from a camera in NY

It's just some modern art piece.
The funny thing is, if you read the first few paragraphs, it's actually supposed to go through the Earth, not over it.
If you look at the picture, you can see it's going into the ground not into the air.
DPS is just trolling.
Nature implies just; artifice does nature injustice...if one ignores natural (perception) for artificial (suggestion).
Or lazy
