Replacing taxes with tariffs would cost Americans even more money. My advice: Take your taxes and your tariffs and shove them up your arse. (media.scored.co)

That's the point of tariffs, to increase prices on imported goods to make it more appealing to manufacture in the U.S.

Whether that's the real goal with these tariffs, hard to say at this point, but in general tariffs are a good thing for creating and maintaining a strong middle class. Wanting all of the cheap shit imported from China, Mexico and the third world is what creates the power imbalance we currently have.

It's like saying "limiting immigration will make labor more expensive and cause prices to go up". Yah, that's the point.

The tariffs are always passed onto the consumer, do people think that massive corpos are going to take a hit? Ceos needs their yachts and mansions, insensitive people jeez.

Pisses me off, what the fuck did trump do when he got in the first time, raise fucking tariffs on wood and steel, well wood and steel is used in almost everything manufacturing. And we wonder why prices keep going up and up.

Now hes just really fucking dicking the entire nation over again just so he can make himself and his friends even RICHER WTF.

This wont do much to boost the local economys, the rich are going to make some crazy bank though. I hope im proven wrong but this mother fucker has done nothing but fuck us over repeatedly, like repealing 50 year old epa laws. I dont know how anyone really believes this dood. Hes a good actor for sure.

Everything is so fucking corrupt, when are we the americans going to stand up and say enough is enough for the love of GOD.

That tariffs thing is pretty strange. Especially 100% one.

We have custom tariffs of around 20% on things that also produced locally. Local customers just paying 20% more for both, imported and local goods. Local producers wouldn't put the price significantly lower than import ones. So basically it is a way to gift additional 20% of profits to local manufacturers. Good for local manufacturers, bad for local customers and absolutely indifferent for foreing exporters. They wouldn't feel anything at all.

The intention is clear - to support local manufacturers, but if you import 100% of some goods, then it is just government stealing money from people under guise of import replacement.

Tariffs have sense if you already have local manufacturing comparable with import in quantity and quality. Then it could have sense. If you don't have local manufacturing, then tariffs will not force anybody to create local manufacturing. Just everything connected in any way with tariffed goods will become more expensive and that's all. Just inflation and nothing more.

Been there, saw that. Tariffs on, say, imported cars just make decent 2000 Chevy Tahoe on the secondary market cost 1M RUB ($11k). That is result, not better and cheaper cars manufactured in Russia.

Exactly same will happen with US.

There are many different ways that really works. F.e. force all government employees use only US made smartphones with 100% localisation. With severe fines or persecution for using China made iPhones and other. If you are a government employee and can't buy 100% US smartphone, then you have to use old US manufactured landline vintage stuff. Suddenly, many limits, prohibitions and regulations that prevent US businesses from reviving local manufacturing of consumer electronics will disappear instantly.

Politicians are mostly looking to enrich themselves. That is their agenda but they have to make it sound like what benefits them benefits us.

I’m guessing this move is being made since so many people stopped paying taxes.

That's the drawback of continiously changing politicians. Such strategy is good in a short term, but will fail in a long term. When a politician could enrich himself knowing he will never be hold accountable and all shit he did will be left to the next similar self-enriching politician, then they will always choose such short-term shit.

So, politicians have to be hold accountable for any consequences of their decisions without any statute of limitation, even if they quit politics long ago.

The only real solution is to abolish and come to a consensus to run this Country as a team. No leaders. Anyone who is doing something good will naturally be followed for a while but those people will also follow others so we are all leaders and followers.

The law is common law which we have to enforce. We have enough guns to defend against foreign invaders. It's our responsibility to fix america as individuals across the 50 states all on voluntary premises.

I don’t believe a federal government for America is feasible because its far too disconnected from the people and Californians should not decide what policies Louisianans must follow. There should be an economic agreement and defense agreement where each state maintains a national guard but no federal army.

I’d argue that some states are incapable of representing the people’s interests. Counties are the only level of government that is connected to the people as the politicians live among them and county politicians are locals.

The biggest problem we’re experiencing in America is that real locals tired of current affairs are threatened the moment they try to run for elections. The choice is get JFK’d or drop out.

Personally I believe the system is irredeemable and Louisiana cannot thrive as long as it remains shackled to this failed experiment.

Yes you are 100% right. I figured out how we can run this country as a team under basic common law. We can defend it, enrich it and lower crime by 95%. It’s so easy to do, you would be pleasantly surprised.

Show me one example in the history of the world where that actually worked and lasted.

Tariffs are bad?

Like most things, it depends. Tariffs used to keep dumping from happening, or to build up a native manufacturing base are good.

Tariffs even to keep citizens from buying knock-off foreign junk are good, NAFTA and the opening of China hollowed out America's working class.

The origin of taxes is farmers and shepherds, etc., having to pay some stationary bandits to protect you from roving bandits. Viola! You have civilization because we are uncivilized.

Unless there's a reset, it's inevitable as death.

Impossible. Even dudes living in the woods buy shit now an again and they pay sales taxes. Nobody grows 100% of their own food, and makes 100% of their own shit. Oh, do you barter? Well, the cost of the taxes in the origin of the item are baked into the item. Barter labor for goods or vice versa? Same issue.

Want to go live in the Amazon rainforest or some shit like that? Well, those gifts to the chief and others in the tribe as a part of social exchange are taxes.

True, it is hard to avoid but only for now. The antiTax movement keeps growing so society itself will dump it soon enough.
