Can we be certain that Jesus Christ was born on December 25th? The Bible gives no exact date for His birth, so why celebrate on a date tied to pagan traditions? 🎄
The first recorded instance of December 25th being celebrated as Christ's birth comes from a Roman calendar in AD 336, long after it was used to celebrate Dies Natalis Solis Invicti (the “Birthday of the Unconquered Sun”). This date is speculated to have origins in ancient Babylon (approx. 2000 BC), marking the birth of Tammuz, and is celebrated after a woman’s typical gestation period following the pagan fertility festival of Easter. By aligning Christ’s birth with this pagan festival, we risk blending the worship of God with sun worship, which the Bible condemns (Romans 1:25).
Let’s also remember the abominable practices described in Ezekiel 8:16-18, where the people were worshipping the sun in God’s temple—an act of rebellion against God. As Ecclesiastes 1:9 reminds us, “There is nothing new under the sun”, and such practices persist even today.
Additionally, Jeremiah 10:2-5 warns against the customs of the nations, such as cutting, fastening in place and decorating trees with silver and gold—practices still reflected in today’s December 25th tradition. This mirrors an ancient pagan ritual that elevates the tree to the status of an idol.
In Deuteronomy 12:29-32, God specifically commands His people not to adopt the worship practices of other nations, emphasizing that worship must align with His word in Bible scripture, not with man-made traditions.
If you love the LORD God, flee from this pagan festival and don’t justify it for the sake of family. Jesus said, “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37 ESV).
We are commanded to worship God in spirit and truth. If the world or your family opposes you, rejoice, for your reward in heaven will be great. As they persecuted the prophets, so they will persecute you. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, to Him be the glory, now and forever.
Wow, really? We did a 180 degrees here. I'm very glad you'll be looking into Orthodoxy because it is wholesome and old tradition indeed and we don't worship a man like the RC do with the pope. Make sure to go visit a service sometime and see what it's about. I didn't mean to be an asshole but I get worked up in arguments.
I value logic above everything else. No amount of loving my own viewpoints will ever prevent me from recognizing and chasing after superior logic constantly. If you are intelligent you will value logic, and as a result your life will be longer. And for those who pursue and discover the truth of God, everlasting life.
It makes sense that nothing good would come out of the Catholic church. A bad tree cannot bear good fruit. And in these final days it is only the Orthodox church which has created such a solid rock to stand against the globalists. That is, our dear friends in Russia. While Christianity in every other part of the world embraces the LGBTQIIA+pedos and their Jew masters, the Orthodox stand firm, wholesome, loving and true.
No longer is it a footnote to me that the Russians are Orthodox Christians. Not a curious fact, but a defining feature of their freedom and strength the rest of the world has been taught to hate.
Yes, well said. The obvious evil nature of the western elites and the degeneracy they push constantly on the enslaved masses is what turned me to Orthodoxy even though I was a hardcore atheist for many years before that. The plandemic laid it all bare and if I valued the truth I had to change my worldview. Orthodoxy has been exposing the jews as the children of Satan since the 1st century.
Here's a prophecy by St. Paisios of Mount Athos about our times written in the early 90's (yet another proof Orthodoxy is the true Church - it produces modern-day saints like him):
Here's the whole text, it's worth the read. He prophesized "a great war between the Russians and the Europeans": https://apantaortodoxias.blogspot.com/2015/06/on-our-times-st-paisios-of-holy-mount.html
Bro, I've done it. I went and bought a hardback Orthodox Study Bible. $56 USD. This is your doing, and you may brightly inform your peers you have turned a raised Baptist > confirmed Lutheran missionary to New Orleans during Katrina recovery > born-again atheist following confusion of being briefly dead following car accident > psychonaut exploring the universe and eventually coming back to a walk with the Lord following the discovery of DMT > quietly attending churches and trying to find one that passes the smell test > all the way into buying an Orthodox Study Bible, believing the Way you guys follow is more legitimate than any variant of Protestant or 'catholic,' seeking to learn and grow in what I see as likely the only uncorrupted church on this planet.
And you did it through polite, firm, honest discourse.
God bless you, brother! You are a proof that apologetics work and that there are still people with open hearts and minds who will listen to the truth just like 2000 years ago. I was convinced to accept the faith despite being a militant atheist in my younger years. Once you see it, it cannot be denied. It flips the world right on its place and it's no longer meaningless and absurd when you understand God is behind it all and He want's you to partake in His uncreated glory and become like Him (through theosis). As the Church fathers say: "God became man, so that man can become (like) god".
Make sure to check out the orthodox youtube sphere: OrthodoxEthos, Kyle, JayDyer, Church of the Ethernal Logos, Fr. Spyridon Bailey, Patristic Nectar, Orthodox Wisdom, harmony. Most importantly find a good church around you, attend a service and speak with a priest there to become a catechumen.
