What's the difference between a lie, deceiving and false witness? I didn't listen to the podcast but I somewhat agree with the post title. We all expose only the part of a full truth that fits our purpose in just about everything we say or do on a daily basis. It's a tough subject to be sure

They are all essentially the same thing. I hope you listen to the podcast! God bless!

Difficult subject. Rahab lied to protect the Jewish spies who came to spy out Jericho. She was not rebuked for that.

But I agree that it may be best to always speak the truth and trust the Lord to control the outcome.

to always speak the truth

Sound was before speech can be shaped within...

outcome...

...implies origin. The former tempts want; the latter implies need.

The church lies all the time, sure maybe invididual members truly believe.

The leaders of the church however do not believe.

Again ill bring up dewine in ohio.

Dude is swearing in on 7 bibles hes making his wife hold ROFL.

Dude is as straight as a W.

Total upstanding citizen, never lied a day in his life. rofl.

These religious types believe that god gave them the ability to steal from the poor, so why not take it!

And my god, if your rich and not religious, you must really be some kinda idiot.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/reliable-source/wp/2016/09/07/gov-john-kasich-on-actor-daniel-radcliffe-what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-him/

“You know that Daniel Radcliffe has declared himself an atheist?” Kasich said, apropos of nothing, according to a report in the Concord Monitor. “I’m serious. What a weird thing. Why would a guy who has had all that success just, I mean, what the hell is wrong with him?”

Real stand up people.

Last time I checked, jesus didnt have a dollar to his name because he did not care about money. god provided everything he needed.

Asinine comment by op.

And like aliens.

I want to believe, but I need proof myself. Asking for "faith" is to much for someone like me.

edit (to prove im not just saying random shit again)

Sadly, this kind of thinking even has its own doctrine: prosperity theology. An offshoot of the healing revivals of the 1950s, it’s a twisted notion that the Bible is some kind of quid-pro-quo contract that says the faithful get all the rewards here on earth; that financial blessing and physical well-being are always the will of God for Christians — and that faith, positive speech, and donations to religious causes will increase one's material wealth.

Yeah, good luck with that if there really is a christian/abrahamic god.

But you know what something my ancestor said lmao 401 years ago really resonates with me.

The saints advantage or The welfare of the faithful, in the worst times A sermon, preached at the Hague the 18. of May, 1623. before the most high, and mighty princess, Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of Bohemia, Countess Palatine of the Rhene, &c. By John Wing,

That the soule of a childe of God is safe, in the worst estate he can be in, in this life; but a wicked mans soule is in most danger when his estate is at best.

Thus are the souls of Gods saints bound fast up [in the bundle of life] by the Lord himself, the Lord of life; who hath bound himself by his owne truth, and faithfulness, yea, sworne by himself, and his holiness, to save them wholy harmeles, at the worst that can come unto them in this world. But for the soules of wicked persons, they are in woeful plight, in their bodyes best estate, and lye soe scattered, neglected, and unregarded, (as things of naught) that God in justice, let's them alone to be seized by Satans malice, to be a prey to that devouring lyon, who will soone make everlasting havoc of them in hell.

And this is the third difference, and the saints third advantage, beyond all ungodly men, wherein how easy is it to determine, who hath the better end, or which is the happier state? any man that hath but a mans soule, indued with reason, will soone prefer safety to danger in themselves, but whosoever hath a Christians soule seasoned with religion, will prefer the former upon any terms, even the very worst, and accept the latter upon no terms, no not the best.

Now I may not believe in abrahamic religions, but I do believe in something. And I do have faith that when death happens its not truly the end.

Yeah, some Old Testament figures kind of bended the rules a little, but the Catholic Faith teaches to not lie under any circumstances, so that is that. The Lord will control the outcome if we trust in Him.

bended the rules a little...to not lie under any circumstances

a) Doesn't circum/circle imply fully bend?

b) Does being alive imply ones stance within a circle or within a line (inception towards death)?

Sleight of hand: https://genius.com/Elton-john-circle-of-life-lyrics

  • In the circle of life
  • It's the wheel of fortune
  • It's the leap of faith
  • It's the band of hope
  • TIL WE FIND OUR PLACE
  • ON THE PATH UNWINDING
