How SSN could be used in malicious way?

Loans may be obtained and the person committing the fraud would take the money and run. All credit scores, loans, tax data, income data and employment verification uses the social security card. It is a unique number issued at birth to everyone in the United States. I've battled with the state of Colorado and the IRS about taxes they say I owe because someone used my social security number to obtain money. I don't want to get into it any deeper because I could be doxxing myself by doing so. The IRS backed off and I had a case number for Colorado to reference, but they always forget about it and start garnishing my Bank account and paycheck every 4 years or so. It's forced me to do things I don't want to do to survive. I am not eligible for a home loan, normal job or bank accounts. Sometimes I feel it's intentionally designed to make me do what I do.

I would like to give you more details, but only in a private message. Most people here would think I'm crazy if I wrote what I know. If I retire soon, I will make a detailed post and then abandon my account

I will appreciate this, but in no way would insist on that if it could somehow harm your privacy or create any problems.

You must be a sub-contractor. It's intended to keep you a sub-contractor for the rest of your life.

SSN is supposed to be a secure sort of credit card extra code number that identifies you -- but dumb peasants never treat it that way. The consequence is that its 1 of the 3 identifiers needed to complete the stolen identity tools.

Think about the requirements for applying for a credit card -- SSN, address and ..nope that's it. :)

A 9-digit number is not exactly what I would call secure. Better yet is the first 3 digits indicate the state of issue (for numbers before 2011). Cryptographically, this a travesty.

It is amusing how conditionally people see that the SSN is protected on most inputs they enter but when it comes to actually treating that number as personal, no one cares. Same with license #. The trust to distrust but not act on it ratio of Americans is infuriating for security analysts.

Thank you!.

So, it is kind of internal passport/ID but without photo?

Not in that sense.

In principle it is a bank account number to the federal government or a routing number. But it sort of evolved (always intended) to become more of a serial number for citizens bcz a regular government ID is not serialized enough with how this dumb country has states and different rules per state per ID. America does not work. It can not be used in general purpose as ID.. except it is a component of setting up financial approval.

Does that clear it up :) No? Yeah well welcome to America.

So it is a critical document that mostly used in financial life of American citizen, so it could be used in various cheats in financial sphere. Am I right?

There are tons of weird things of that type in every country you could find. F.e. we have "pension insurance number", "individual taxpaying number", "mandatory medical unsurance number" and it's not easy to explain to a foreigner what they are in real life and how they really used.

I just don't know what exactly SSN is and how it used.

We have something that probably similar to that named СНИЛС (pension insurance number), but it could be used ony to pay some money to pension fund and so enlarge pension paymenst of some individual. This number is not used for pension payment (they are in person by cash or to bank account). So, I just asking what SSN really is.

It's not easy to find an info where and how SSN is really used. If you try to search for SSN you will find only definitions, that it is Social Security Number.

Its a number assigned at birth that represents our identity.

Mostly in financial sphere including to identify you to different private financial institutions like banks, funds and all that, as I get. It is private businesses who are satisfied with SSN as client ID, so there is wide fiield for shit of all sorts.

That's why it was not very obvious for me how SSN is really used from official docs about it.

Something like that?
