Really Weird Question For You All
posted 1 year ago by brahbruh 1 year ago by brahbruh +15 / -4

Have any of you who say things like "oh my god" or "Jesus f****** Christ" recently stopped saying this, and, if so, why?

I recently realized that the origins of this expression, from my recollection, were TV actors and comedians in the 70's. They are using the name of our Christ as a curse word. A little research might determine if there is a common denominator connecting them

Interesting... just like the trashy language we've all grown to use in general.

Over just the last few years, I've really slowed down on sch things and I'm conscious of it every time I do it. I'll even substitute by actually saying "OMG" or "herr merr gerd" out loud, and--while such expressions are humorous in themselves--I'm quite aware of what I'm avoiding.

Same kind of thing, like something keeps me from doing it, starting a few months back. It's like an instinct, we all feel that shit is getting real and it's becoming clear which side are the really bad guys and there's this feeling of, "I don't wanna do basically anything they do.", one of those things being disrespecting god / Jesus, taking their name in vain, even though I'm not a church-goer (actually, if anything, churches have entirely besmirched the religions they ostensibly ascribe to, by letting gay marriage and other nonsense in, so I shouldn't have to say "even though...").

Yes, I basically would have given the same answer, that it stems from some sort of semi-conscious instinct.

We see the fabric of society, even civilization itself, fraying and unraveling before our eyes, and the reaction is to resist it and move in the opposite direction, cleaning up our acts in even the smallest ways.

Frankly, these dark times have caused me to become friendlier and cheerier than I ever have in my life. I've got a smile for everyone I see, and a kind word and a humorous comment for everyone I chance to talk to. I feel this deep, inner drive to do that, like it's the least I can do for humanity.

Interesting, that last bit about being friendly is something that another person I spoke with about this said, the other day, which made me realize that was happening with me as well (including less often engaging in minor road rage, like getting back at people for cutting me off, etc.). As we get closer to absolute chaos, the feeling is, "what is the value in being hateful over these minor things?"

That's what i've always thought. Eating a regular hot dog and eating a soy-based-hotdog- thing is the same exact action.

That goes for lesbians too! (wink wink 🤣😂🤣)

I dropped all of those. No more need to blaspheme or profane the Lord. It's literally near the top of the 10 Commandments for a reason.

I can't really answer to that, but I'm hearing "At the end of the day...." as an idiom more and more often. I noticed it a few months ago, and now I notice it all the time in podcasts, interviews, etc.

That's funny. I love noticing those kinds of things, and then you can't stop hearing them everywhere (due to your reticular activating system, where abstractions / stored patterns are formed).

Wow, super nostalgic reading that, because it is the first I've heard the name Esau since I was a kid, at some point in church.

IMHO, while JP seemed pretty legit in the beginning, he may have been captured and reprogrammed a couple years ago (when he had his drug issue), and may now be a usurper / controlled op.

it's so obvious that Jordan Peterson is controlled opposition/entirely captured by the cabal. I was attempting to be less insulting and abrasive by using qualifying language. You don't have to get angry at me, like he's your dad or something. I wanted to like him also. He said a lot of really intelligent things early on and he was standing up for free speech, etc., at least up in Canada (where almost everyone else has capitulated). But when somebody starts saying things that seem like they are part of the standard program of "conservative" influencers, and they simultaneously have a complete transformation of their image and go through a drug addiction phase, one cannot simply ignore all these things and say "I'm sure he's exactly who he was six years ago."

No, I don't know for 100% sure that what I've observed indicates exactly what I'm gleaned from it. But I also don't know for 100% sure that grass is green, etc. Nobody knows anything for 100% sure, but we shouldn't blindly ignore things that at least seem obvious, or let other people continue believing things that we're pretty certain are untrue, without at least attempting to share our thoughts (after all, isn't that basically what this forum is for).

I imagine when you say someone's name, that means you want their attention.
