This is auspicious timing, I just learned about this when I saw that passover isn't until the end of April. I understand that the Orthodox church didn't accept the Gregorian calendar? I was raised Catholic and considering the actions of our Pope in these past few years, it's becoming clear which side of the church was right (idols in St Peter's, the vax, and now paving the way for gay marriage). "The gates of hell will not prevail [against the church]" is probably not referring to Catholics. Do you have any resources I can read on getting our dates right? Maybe we will observe on your timing as well.
It's great you're asking questions and seeking to find the true Church. I'd highly recommend you to check Jay Dyer's videos on Catholicism vs Orthodoxy - he's a very knowledgeable theologian and top debater and he's coming exactly from your anti-woke/historically accurate faith angle. He also delves deep into geopolitics and well attested conspiracies (like the covid psy op, secret societies and the NWO). Here are some key videos:
As for the calendar - part of Eastern Orthodox are on the Julian calendar (Russia, Serbia, Romania) and the rest are have accepted the Gregorian (Greece, Bulgaria), yet there are still "old style" churches in those countries. The doctrines and canons are the same and all Eastern Orthodox Churches are in communion. Easter and other movable feasts, are celebrated in the same day regardless of calendar.
Thank you so much for the resources. I've been watching Father Spyridon and Brother Nathanael on YouTube but that's about the extent of my exposure to Orthodoxy. There are sedevecantist Catholics who believe the current Pope is illegitimate, but he's not the only one to promote heresies and lower-level leaders are also not following the Word. My children are not allowed to attend the local Catholic school because we don't vaccinate at all. The mRNA isn't the only one to use aborted cell lines and those lines eventually deteriorate so that new ones have to be "gathered" :(
There's definitely a spiritual war going on but the Truth will prevail and God is Truth. Thank you again
You're welcome, glad I can help. Yes, I forgot Father Spyridon and Brother Nathanael, they are great too and as a rule all true Orthodox clergy and lay theologians have a unified stance on the problems we're facing. We don't need a pope figure to inform us on the correct faith, rather Orthodoxy is all about the Church history and the teachings of the saints - whatever was true 2000 ago is true now because truth and goodness is eternal. There's no doctrine of progressive revelation of the faith and so on. That's why our liturgy, church architecture, ecclesiology and doctrines have remained unchanged throughout the time.
We should remember there was only one church in the first millennium and whoever sticks the most to what that Orthodox Catholic Early Church was like is in Christ. The Pope clearly is in apostasy and he's not the first one. The Orthodox church is not immune to such influences too and we have our fair share of heretical patriarchs (I'd say both Kirill and Bartholomew are compromised by worldly powers - this is most evidence in their stance on ecumenism and the mRNA). The difference is the Orthodox church doesn't hinge on the authority of the patriarchs like the Catholic doe on the infallibility of the Pope.
