Things are so bad that he's able to become a populist hero simply by repeating a couple majority held viewpoints, but this hero status will be used in an attempt to bring the people who follow him to ruin
I don't know how that guy sleeps at night. With that amount of wealth you could save a lot of lives today. Not tomorrow, not two weeks from now but this very moment. People view wealth as a goal but it's a curse that seals you off from everyone else who doesn't have it and in his case that is every single other person on the face of the earth.
