Funnily enough there’s actually some shitty horror movie where the police stage a fake terror attack to give them an excuse to raid a local militia and kill all its members. The undercover cop in the militia realizes the conspiracy and tries to stop his police colleagues so they kill him too and claim the militia shot him. Can’t remember what the movie is called but it was on prime video a while back.
Every 3rd member of the existing militia groups is already an FBI confidential informant. I think that this will be used to target Christian groups because that is the biggest threat to them.

Aren't people militias already prohibited de-facto in US? I mean, I could not imagine how any large enough and uncontrolled by government formation of armed citizens will be allowed to exist in modern US.

In any way, mitigation or workaround that will allow creation of large and powerful formation of armed citizens uncontrolled by government will be the same, regardless of de-facto or de-jure prohibition.
Self defense is already illegal in America anyway. You kill an intruder in self defense and they’ll charge you with assault and discharging a firearm in city limits because they know a jury would acquit murder or manslaughter.

That's the same as here. Formally, you could own guns, up to civilian version of AK (Saiga), but you can't use it for self-defence practically. Intruder have to be armed with, IDK, 120mm howitzer, in order your self-defence to be accounted as "adequate". Otherwise you will be charged with "exceeding limits of necessary self-defence" with significant jail time. It's more sane to use chainsaw as a weapon against intruderm then a gun. But in any case you will be dragged through the all hell of investigation and court process. Fortunately, intrusions and assaults here is rare now, so you have to be extremely unlucky to find yourself in situation when you need a gun for self-defence.
