I'm fairly certain that by "incredulity", McLuhan meant "unwillingness to believe", but if you look up the definition of the word, the other primary meaning is "inability to believe".

The lack of that ability is, I believe, at the heart of the matter. Could someone lack such an ability, like some sort of intellectual cripple? What would that mean, precisely? Is there an actual mechanism at work? A defect in your leg makes you a physical cripple, so is there a defect in consciousness?

McLuhan hit the nail on the head but his hammer had no force behind it. If he had had these questions, he certainly would have amplified and followed up on them.

The fact that there is a map on the wall, doesn't mean it's a flat earth meme. If that's your evidence that it is, well, that give me some insight on how you evaluate other evidence.

You know, if you were a biblical literalist and thus a flat earther that way, I'd have a modicum of respect for the position.

How about, as answer to your question, if someone like you looks into whether the Bible says the earth is flat or not?

The bible uses figurative language. For example it says "the four corners of the earth" or similar. Taken literally, that would mean the earth would be square. Literalists use Genesis to say the earth if flat based on the description of creation, which is part historical and part allegorical.

Watching paint dry is more valuable than doing the intellectual equivalent of a self lombodomy.

secret

Being implies one apart from one another; hence segregated aka Latin secerno; secretus - "to set apart". Only apart can one discern self.

hidden in plain sight

a) suggested keeps plain sight (perceivable) hidden underneath ones ignorance.

b) a lie (suggested information) so big one cannot see (perceivable inspiration)...

You may like this link about moon being some sort of reflection of the earth.

This is one of my favorite theories. It would explain ice ages, the appearance of polarity shifting, and the constantly changing climate as the sun moves around the circumference.

You can get a strong telescope and literally see the craters on the moon.

I don't think anyone ever argued otherwise but cool story bro.

If one can see craters, it cannot be a reflection of Earth.

Right, because there are no craters on earth.

As many and as visible as on the Moon?

Some who promote this idea suggest such craters may be below the oceans, and or on a world much greater in size than we currently teach.

In any case, the earth has no shortage of craters.

That's pretty much based on the crater earth model by "godgevlamste"... https://rumble.com/user/Godgevlamste

Great out of the box thinker. Thanks for reminding me to catch up to his stuff. As for reflection...being partial (perception) within whole (perceivable) implies refraction within light.
