May be you just confuse information exchange with access to the audience of whole population?
The latter never was the case, so nothing changed at all. If somebody mistakenly thought that using some Twitter/Facebook/whatever one could get that access, than he was fundamentally wrong. No single centralized social platform was created to provide such access. They all was created to use users as assets for trade and business.
So, I don't see many changes from the point of control over internet. As they didn't knew what internet was, so they dont't understand what internet is. Funny that those people who was brought to internet in recent decades do not understand that too.
Only one thing really annoying me - the growth of information garbage produced by arrogant and ignorant users. This could really become a problem, especially if sheeple will be forced to master something different from corporate web they use now, but I don't think it will happen in closest future.
The relationship is mutual. There's no confusing it. If you can only access to truth because you have a VIP membership to some super secret cult, then you simply failed to change anything.

No it doesn't, even the "few" (Elites) influenced the world through demons and shamans.
The ordinary man doesn't influence through small numbers of knowledgeable people, they will simply be ignored, taken down and forgotten.
Since when knowing how things work become "super secret cult"? Are you disturbed by "super secret cults" of car mechanics or plumbers? Or "super secret cult" of anyone who knows slightly more that needed for doing his job at work?
There is no any secrets in using IP protocol. Everything is documented and available for anyone. There are even tons of free and opensource ready-to-use software to get maximum you could imagine from internet. Somebody prevents you from reading few HOWTOs and manuals?
So how masses of sheeple will help you to mitigate daemons and shamans? Isn't a group of educated fellows preferrable?
Why do you need to influence anybody at all? Does TPTB with all their shamans and daemons succed to influence you? Looks like they don't. If even TPTB could not influence just you, then why spent time trying to do what TPTB failed to do?

I think you heard stories about how scholars in Ancient Rome or 1975 Cambodia get slaughtered like cattle -- it's because they think the TPTB will fail to influence them. Honestly, we're on the same path. We think they have no effect on us but on the next moment, we're all just cattle. Turns out it's people who WANT the TPTB to be around for their entertainment, they can't spread things like reskinned Talmud and Communism on their own.
If you influence all the people who will listen to simply stop dipping in -- which I believe is approximately 50 - 70 percent of the global population -- the TPTB will lose all interest to go further and you will get your nice things back.
They failed because they liked to talk but didn't like to plan. When you see a cop on your porch that came for you, you know you failed long ago.
You are very optimistic on the percentage and on the TPTB behaviour. They certainly like "that sheeple began to listen someone else, OK, we backing up and curtailing our plans".
I'm not so optimistic and suppose that to end all that shit TPTB should be exterminated. Physically. And this couldn't be done without thorough planning.
