Stop viewing it from the point of view of:

• best are selected as leaders
• leaders do logical, moral and righteous things
• officials, jurisdiction, cops want to get to the truth and punish the guilty
• laws, ethics, morals and agreements are honoured

When you instead work from the following assumptions, it all makes sense:

• everybody is in for themselves
• everybody loots the maximum they think can get away with
• most have dirt on most others, so they blackmail each other in paranoid manner
• key cops, DAs and judges are in on the cut, corrupt and will bury all investigation
• the world is run by crime networks, who collaborate, co-operate and fight with each other
• intelligence agencies partially run, utilize and work with these crime networks
• the biggest traded worldwide goods are: weapons, energy, currency, ownerships, drugs, humans/organs, influence and information
• there are no friends, just temporary collaborators of convenience
• there are no enemies, just groups of people who are in the way of getting what you want
• everything is opportunistic, everything can be bent to your goals, all events can be utilized in your narrative if you get to control the narrative
• puppets are elected as public leaders and are utilized by aforementioned networks/agencies as they see fit

There are no high level heroes, just us ordinary folks, muddling along in the dark, trying to find the truth.
