In Colorado, they need to be tied into the system / grid and are designed for 1/4 of your typical usage. You could always design your own, but it can't be tied to your service

Just remember with the new smart meters, they know when you disconnect the system. All is prelude
Don't have to completely disconnect from current system. Just gradually wean yourself off of it as you perfect and improve your own system.
