imho, it has more to do with nurture and life experiences than nature. if parents, teachers, coaches, or whatever role models a kid has are inclined to look truth in the face regardless of cost, then so will the child. if a kid has some pretty bad experiences because of societal pretense, the kid is more likely to become a skeptical adult.
having said that, raw intelligence also plays a role.
and having said that... i honestly don't fucking know.
Consciousness is often the result of life experience. The more spiritual, aware, and empathic, presumably even with esp, but some traits show much younger. No, not everybody later has them either. There are selfish people everywhere, and there are the socially inept, no awareness, just greed and their prejudices, or are simply unaware of anything else apart from themselves, and sometimes this is a disability.
Intelligence is often the result of programming, but tends to be more hereditary. Because of better opportunity and tuition. Again it is also an individual talent. Smart people are sometimes the least conscious. They excel at a field of study and sometimes not much else despite having an ability to learn and solve.
Both consciousness and intelligence can be passed down depending on the methods and tuition.
Although as you said trauma or hardship can play a role in your supposed skeptical consciousness, or being around events and things that make them question. Social etiquette however often takes better upbringing and interaction.
I dislike this topic's insinuations. NPC. To be fair I don't think many people care until they are forced too. Until a particular event or experience actually affects them differently. Otherwise they won't research it. They'll simply and like everybody else follow any programming passed on. Again every single brain works differently, and often has difficulties.
Consciousness is often the result of life experience
a) exper- implies expression (growth) by impressing (loss)...temporary growth (life) requires conscious awareness of ongoing loss (inception towards death).
b) living represents the result of the process of dying; choice (reaction) represents the result of balance (action); growth represents the result of loss; inside represents the result of outside; partial represents the result of whole; perceiving represents the result of perceivable; potential represents the result of potentiality; resistance represents the result of velocity; magnetic represents the result of electric; female represents the result of male; each one represents the result of oneness.
c) suggested OFTEN (frequent) tempts one to ignore that ones free will of choice within the dominance of balance represents frequent adaptation of FREE (living) within DOM (process of dying) aka ones struggle to sustain self.

Lol, 90% of kids are raised by tv/social media now. Parents are either divorced, or both working their asses off to have material things.
No decent teachers/coaches left. Most of them who actually cared proably quit or was laid off during the covid nonsense.
Not to mention again, the dumbed down education system and the non stop barrage of advertisements sucking up your decision making power.
a) raw represents perceivable whole; cut represents each perceiving partial. The raw natural order represents the alteration for everyone within.
b) knowledge represents perceivable (inspiration); intelligence represents ones consent to stand under aka understanding suggested (information).
c) if one stands under the suggestions by others (intelligence), then one restricts grow of comprehension within perceivable (knowledge).
d) the few brand their suggestions as "knowledge" and the consent of the many as "intelligence".
e) the "ledge of knowing" represents ones perceiving choice in-between perceivable balance (need/want).
