I certainly agree with what you said, but I think no one has quite put their finger on the deeper dynamics at work. I suspect, in the end, we'll be describing a type of consciousness we come to call base-level or "beast" consciousness. There are a few other strongly demonstrated phenomena we can observe:
During the pandemic, these people simply could not do enough to save their own lives. What I derived is that rather than living--as you describe it--they were avoiding dying. Big difference, right?
Also, for all their bleating about overpopulation, can you think of even one of them that jumped off a bridge as a political statement or just to help the rest of us out? Me either.
We might observe that they procreate at a lower rate, and encourage birth control and abortion and all that, but that seems to be driven again by selfishness: everyone else is ruining it for "them". It seems to me like they're too self-absorbed and self-centered to wish to care for children. And in an odd twist, they don't even act like they would have had children and then "take credit" for not having them to save us from whatever. A strange omission for people obsessed with virtue-signalling.
Finally, I've noticed that the lives of others don't really seem "real" to them. I haven't heard a single one of them mention the human cost of the conflict in Ukraine--let alone grieve it--apart from as a talking point that "Russia bad". Human life seems to them to have no inherent worth, let alone transcendence.
The thesis that is forming for me is that this all reflects a consciousness similar to that of animals. How many animals conceptualize that the world existed before them, and that it will continue to exist after they pass away? Or that anyone need bother themselves with considerations of either?
(BTW: I think that's why Greta had to ratchet "the End of the World" down to 12 years. Leftists simply could not be made to care about anything further out.)
I thought the cure was homeschooling.
Homeschooling only deals with the symptoms of the disease. Still, better to homeschool than not.
Perhaps it could be said, in a deep philosophical sense, that Leftists are drawn to the Void, and ultimately desire to enter into it for annihilation.
Everybody else first, though.
