Very similar situation occurred with the government at the Oregon wildlife refuge standoff in 2016. The people were innocent, and being screwed over by the government for decades, leading to the arrest of the last family living in the area under bullshit reasons. The people come to the family's defense, and the government tries to kill them (actually murders LaVoy Finicum in a trap when they tried to get help with a local sheriff because the feds are pure evil). There was a very long blog post by someone that lived in the area that detailed all the bullshit the federal government was doing and had done, but I can no longer find it. However, this is a pretty good rundown of the events:

Fun note for those out there studying the occultists: The Waco compound was precisely 33 miles from the front door of GWB's pad in Crawford. We can't really measure how many feet that's accurate to landmark-wise because they wiped the Mt. Carmel site completely clean.

The giveaway is that when Bush Jr. bought the place, which was already odd because it was a hog farm not a ranch retreat, they tore down the existing perfectly good ranch house and built just another regular ranch house right next to where the hog pens had been.

Only three things missing from this summary.

1. Power was cut at the compound, and the Davidians were using kerosene lamps. This contributed to the fire.
2. Hostage negotiatiors off site were routinely fucked by the actions of agents on scene, who did things like play "these boots are made for walking" on loudspeakers at the Davidians.
3. Infrared video shows that as the tanks went in, people running away from the flames were gunned down. Survivors, the few there were, confirmed this.
