The Christmas holiday has been ruined by commercialism and materialism.

It's become this weird holiday of conspicuous consumption.

The use of the name "Santa Claus" on gifts to the needy families was a way to give gifts anonymously. Many years ago, individuals would rather die than accept a gift. Gifts bring an obligation to return a gift in kind. But a gift from Santa left at the door in the middle of the night does not.

Even the lump of coal was a welcome gift for the poor. But our society has turned the meaning into that only bad children (poor children) get bad gifts. And that very good kids (rich kids) are showered with a mountain of presents.

! Santa Claus is a symbol of white supremacy racism and he is the reason we must ban elves who are slaves. Furthermore George Floyd was innocent and that is why we must all get vaccinated climate change reeeeeeeeee.

I am a graduate of Fuckhead University with a master's in equality, diversity, and mental illness. Also, Christmas is a white man's holiday and do you like my hair its purple. Lets have a drag queen Xmas!!

Why are there men in white coats in my room?

Apparently, you don't have any scandinavians in this place.

Only an idiot would think Santa Claus comes from a fake person like "saint nicholas". He never existed. But I bet you like the story that he gave away presents.

The reason I mention scandinavians is because they know the tale of old nick, who is definitely NOT saint in any way. It's a blue demon water spirit that also transformed as a white horse. It is called Nyx.

I thought you people researched information. Some idiot pasted a fake news and you all buy it? I bet you are still waiting to see santa in december, huh?

That's sad. Real sad for this place. You don't research shit. You find a post that confirms your beliefs and you post it and/or like it. Good sheep behavior. Continue to follow blindly. Let me know where that path ends for you.

Also, Eastern Orthodox christians celebrate Saint Basil.

St. Basil's Day Orthodox Christians recognize January 1 as St. Basil's Day. St. Basil (c. 329-379) was born in central Turkey and became famous for his intellectual brilliance, his care of the poor, and the rules he wrote to govern monastic life. Greeks celebrate St. Basil's Day with gift giving, carol singing, a special kind of bread, and a number of customs designed to attract good luck for the coming year.

Orthodoxy celebrates Saint Nicholas too, are you just mentioning Basil because of charity and gift giving?

Also watch what you copy/paste from cause this:

designed to attract good luck for the coming year.

Luck ain’t apart of any orthodox that I’m aware

I mention St Basil because I though he was the monk most celebrated by the orthodox at this time of year.

I though St. Nick was more celebrated by Northern Europeans.

Saint Nicholas was instrumental in the 1st ecumenical council, he literally punched Arius in the face. He’s important to everyone.

His secret gift giving is why he’s associated, plus giftgiving down a chimney, and gifts in stockings.

he is said to have rescued three girls from being forced into prostitution by dropping a sack of gold coins through the window of their house each night for three nights so their father could pay a dowry for each of them. One of the tellings the money goes into the stocking hung up by the fireplace of one of the girls.
