space is real,but real purpose of those chorizo centauri were to make people thinking instead of "trusting the science". It is why "science community" were so pissed off. This is why bogus articles mocking official science are made by actual scientists and why they are so attacked after doing so by the rest of "science community" being afraid about their "authority".
trust => believe. Shall we blindly "BELIEVE THE SCIENCE" ? Would be such thing still science - or kind of religion pretending to be science ?!
But science is NOT about believes,it is about VERIFYING FACTS and making VERIFIABLE THEORIES about facts. As those verifiable theories work we have technology and predictions - but it is easier to be some kind of priest with Dr before the surname,"the authority man" trusted without questioning.It is more profitable than doing REAL SCIENCE. And people doing real science fight against such thing - using for example those chorizo centauri :) as a meme-weapon

We have night sky and telescopes. We have GPS. So space looks real. But they lie to us quite much - also about space - that's for sure.
