Which starts with the story of the light bulb. Manufacturers used to compete on the lifespan of incandescent bulbs. The Phoebus Cartel of lightbulb makers - Osram, General Electric, Associated Electrical Industries, and Philips, and others - decided that was bad for business so agreed to stick to a 1,000 hour lifespan.
Let's go back to computers. In fact let's go back to where it started with Bill Gates. But electronics had this trend earlier, with radios, and hi-fis. Until it has been every electronic. They have become far more wasteful. So wasteful. Now imagine that green future they're selling? Nobody has figured that one out. But they don't emit. Rolls on the floor in fits of laughter. Chip manufacture, battery manufacture, are some of the biggest emitters on the planet, outside of concrete, but they blame the cows, haha.
The EU had just made up some bullshit, where electonic products should last 10 years, haha that doesn't work. They're not supported, look at Windows. Look at that scam they pulled, demanding everybody pay crypto ransomware. Unless they upgrade, because the newer version was better protected. But it was a damn employee. It really was because it was easier too. Have a guess. Scam came out prior to the COVID. I honestly wonder why? Where did it hit.
But computers importantly the software operating them started this destructive trend. With Windows it caused software to be regulated instead of it previously being open source, and bespoke, forcing computer upgrades into what they are now, and it's practically every couple years, like the Iphone. Despite the early versions of Windows and the first computers lasting much longer. The minute you buy it, it's out of date, another model is released. The phones are made to break. Computers made to not run the software. Consoles are the same, new models releasing by the spade. It's every single piece of electronic junk, with battery without batteries.
Although today they cannot keep up. Cannot manufacture for the demand. With more robots and further automation incoming they're faster forcing regulations.
But the batteries. No it's the entire scam. It's been at it for decades.
There is a great documentary about this called The Light Bulb Conspiracy which goes beyond the lightblub

Didn't have to go to the link to know this.
I inherited my G/G grandmother's Singer sewing machine.
Name plate says Singer, Co., 1889.
Still effing works.
Shit today is so substandard to keep an endless supply of product for the consoomer to keep consooming.
Sad on the creative and engineers part.
How could one be proud of designing shit. Right?
Ghost and king are both shill accounts.
Just FYI.
