My Ellen Page conspiracy theory: prior to the transition, Ellen was experiencing a receding hairline which would have been disastrous for an actress. As such, the whole transition is her mental freakout to a receding hairline and attempt to stay relevant in an industry that would have dumped an unattractive bald female.
