Why are WE not allowed to go to Antarctica?
Well, that is because visiting Antarctica is a privilege and a responsibility at the same time. The Antarctic Treaty includes a protocol on environmental protection, which designates the continent as a natural reserve. There is a set of rules any visitor has to follow.
Antarctica is the largest wilderness area on earth, a place that must be preserved in its present, virtually pristine state.
The Antarctic treaty was made in 1957 and all the countries in the world. With all the bullshit going on in the world signed on and say we must protect the ice and the Penguin. ... ya right
Longest lasting treaty in history. It says, you can't question the treaty
it's impossible to go to Antarctica and explore independently. you want to plan a exploration? You got to fill out a ton of paperwork pay a fee and then when they deny you, they keep your money.
There was a guy, years ago, who kept sailing toward Antarctica. He would then be intercepted and arrested. And then he'd do it again at first opportunity. Cannot recall but I think he was from Norway?!
